RJX Hobby Hurrican 50 - Xtreme 50 > Hurrican 50 XTreme 50CF vs. Trex 600N Pro vs. JR Vibe 50

All - will soon be in the market for a 50 size machine. I thought I had made my mind up until I saw the XTreme 50 CF. Very nice looking machine. The web site lists the bird between 650-700 dollars. The Trex is 600 and until the Vibe comes out, probly about 600 also, but who knows when at this point. While it is hard to compare a machine that is not released, I'll keep this to what is available. How does this machine compare to the T-Rex 600N in flight, parts quality and parts availability. You all have to admit, Align is really appealing when it comes to replacement parts costs and availability. I just like to be different so this machine may be my next choice. Help me make a decision.

600 compairison to Xtreme 50

I know the Xtreme has some parts that come two pieces to a package like the 600 does, and it is real simular in size to the 600.here is the 600's frame side laid against the Xtreme's frame you can see how close in size they are.
Flight....? You have to fly one to really understand Very, very fast. The head is a programable design and the tail case is very unique. Awesome Machine.

I have owened an X-treme for about a month now. I have waited to post any type of comment till I had some real flight time on the machine.
Let me help you from making a mistake. There is nothing wrong with the Trex 600n but when its all said and done it is nothing more than a up-graded Raptor. (By the way I fly both the Trex and Raptor) The X-Treme is lighter. I have scaled the Raptor and the X-treme same gear on both. Raptor is at 7 1/2 lb X-treme at 7 1/4 lb. and as every one already knows the Trex is slightly heavier than the Raptor.
Another thing, of the major frame components the X-treme has 3 plastic the boom holders and the belt drive gear which is up gradable to alum. Look at the Trex and compare all the standard parts that come with it and all the ones that come with the X-treme.
Besides the tail belt gear there is no other upgrade. Go and price the up grades on the Trex? The X-treme is in the long run a better buy. I have seen the X-treme flown by a well known pilot and he was impressed. There are videos to prove the air worthiness of the X-treme. Finally if you have questions or problems with the X-treme you can call RJX of USA and Rusty will be there for you. That is how I got hooked up with the X-treme. Give it a try, call him and talk to him you will be satisfied with the results. Who will you call if you have a problem or question with Align products, Fr... only on Fridays. Those who have done it know what I'm talking about.

put a couple of flights on mine today before the F1 started its an amazingly powerful and light machine in the air with a hell of a lot of authority on the controls i own a 600n as well and i like the way the xtreme flys more except it could have a torquw tube thts tht only thing i would want to change.

torque tube

I don't think the 80.00 to 100.00 the torque tube would increase the kit cost would be worth it. my Xtreme has very good tail authority with the belt drive. and the repair cost are alot less with a belt.
Torque tubes are nice on 90's but more exspense. BOONY you are right the Xtreme is a rocket. just giving my opinion on the torque tube.

I would have to agree with you, Trex parts are cheap and the Trex flys good to. But the Xtreme flys every bit as good and gives you more out of the box. No upgrades needed because it has them already. IMO

High tunability on the head is one of the main attractions which draws me to the Xtreme 50, not much companies take 50 size flyers seriously enough to incoporate more tuning options, RJX don't hold back at all.

No need for upgrades for tuning, etc, it's all available in the stock form

In my experience torque tubes are just more trouble than they are worth on a 50 size machine. The performance benefits are just not there to outweigh the cost / maintenence of the tail gears.

I have alot of respect for the way a couple other 50's out there fly and having flown all but the vibe, this one is where its at for me. Super high quality parts and machining along with excellent flight characteristics and light weight. I understand this machine is not for everyone though, it is a litle on the spendy side, but for the guys who would rather buy once and buy right, now we have a fifty to go to. Without the flight abilities, the looks means nothing to me, but if it looks and flies this good? No brainer for me. Looking forward to getting some video posted soon.

I do not own a xtreme yet. But I do own a hurrican. The xtreme is lighter and heavily upgraded from the hurrican. I flew my hurrican against a 600n and could tell the difference between the two. Ye I prefer the hurrican. Thats why I am sticking with RJX. as for parts. Never had any problems getting parts. Every kit that rjx sells there is enough parts waiting just for that kit to build another one. And Rusty is and clyde are the best when you need help. The are members on every forum and check the rjx sections like clock work. Couldnt ask for better customer service.

600N vs Extreme

I have an extreme on the way so I am excited to see what it is like and how it compares to my 600N. I have also had a Knight 3D so it will be interesting to see how it compares to that as well. Not sure why but the Vibe does not interest me...

As many have said the extreme is a bit spendy but if you factor everything that you get (prepainted fibglass canopy, carbon frames, front mounted tail servo, metal blade grips, and the german design influence) you get a lot of heli for the price and it appears to need no upgrades. I would suspect that if you added everything to the 600N that the extreme includes the 600N would cost just as much if not more.

I know that I really like the way the 600N flys but I am I doing everything I can to get faster cyclic speeds. I hear that the extreme is really fast out of the box so I am anxious to fly and see if it fits me better than the 600N.

Out of the box

Kirk,You will have to see if the cyclics are fast enough for you, out of the box, I put the white MA flybar padles on mine to make it feel like a rocket, the paddles that come with it are a stable paddle but I did not try them with different ajustments on the head, I just put the MA's on. Love it!

The 4mm white MA's are good, But I am using the 90mm V-paddles.
