e-Electric Conversions > Converted eCCPM Raptor 50 weight VS Tppacks weight

I have a TPpacks eCCPM converted raptor that weighs 9.5 Lbs ready to fly with 10S2P A123s. Will changing the body to the TPpacks E620 frame make it any lighter? Weight is the only reason I'd be doing this. I'm happy with my pinions and battery locations as I have it set up now.

Not much, it's gonna be heavy with those cells anyway. Mine with V1 frames and 10S2P lipos came in at 8.5lbs. I would just fly it and have fun. Maybe if you doink it hard enough in the future then switch over. Parts are easier to get for the V2 Rap anyway. I just switched my E-50 back to glow. Just wanted to be able to put in more and longer flights. It was a very hard decision cuz it flew great. I still have my E-90 and thats not going anywhere!!

BD Raptor

My Belt Drive Raptor weighs 6lb. 10oz. without packs, I'm using 12S (2x6S 3850) and they weigh 2lb.10oz., so thats 9lb. 4oz. When I use the 2x5S 5000 Air Thunder packs its heavier, they weigh 3lb. 5oz. If you look at the pics of my BD Raptor in my gallery, you'll see that I have TPPACKS frames and there isn't any front servo mount. As far as the main frame, I don't think you could get any lighter unless the top frame were to be CF. I weighed a friends Trex 600 with the after market frames without packs and my Raptor was lighter.
I could take off a little weight here and there, but would have to spend some money to do it and I don't think it would fly that much better. Like PJ said, just fly it and don't worry that much about the weight.

Are you sure your scale is right, that sure is light with 10S2P packs. I use a RX pack and a UBEC and a gohbee canopy. The gohbee canopy is really light and fits better than some others.

Yup that is right. I weighed it on a postal scale. I used the V1 frames and metal tail tube. The guys were suprised cuz mine only weighed a little more than the glow(usually around 8lbs) and we have weighed several of them.

I'm really starting to think a belt drive raptor is the way to go, Stanc. What would I need to buy and what would I have to manufacture to get my bird like that with a 492KV motor and a 2100 head speed. I'd hate to stop using the Hacker A50 I have but do you think that the Z50 is really that much better if I can still get 2100 Rpms out of the Hacker?

The only thing that bothers me is you say your heli weighs 6 lbs and 10 oz less batteries. That sounds a lot heavier than what I have now but I don't see how. I figure that an A123 10S2P pack weighs 3 lbs 5 ounces so your heli with my packs would weigh 10 Lbs instead of 9.45 lbs. Maybe your equipment is heavier or maybe my scale is wrong. What's your opinion?

I using a digital fish scale and its probably not that accurate because my bird weighed less than the Trex e600 without packs and also because PJs V1 is so light. There is a HV85 and a 2S 2070 mah RX pack and a UBEC, which adds a few oz.

I can send you what you need to mount the motor with the flanged bearing and tell you what you need to buy as far as the pulleys and belt. You will need the CF frames and a 6mm pinion adapter that comes with the direct drive set up from tppacks for the Hacker motor. You can use the 85T/10T R50 gears or the 86T/9T R30 gears. The great thing about the BD is you can change the gearing so easy.

Send me a PM if you think your interested.
