Well I got two tanks in on my Q15 .
I was just hovering with a few fig 8s and stuff.
Seemed very smooth even with the bades a little out of track.
On the 3rd tank I was tracking the baldes when after a few adjustments the motor flooded so I lossened the glow plug but I must have stressed it a little to much and broke the start shaft right above the bearing.
Game over!
Anyone got an extra Q15 start shaft laying around?

How fustrating!

What did it sound like? The engine v.s. blade noise...

Also, what was the power like? I guess the engine is still running in, but how lively did the collective feel?

Sorry about all the questions!

It has its own sound hard to explain .
As for the power I was running it pretty rich so its hard to tell at this point.
I have a feeling it may be under powered but realy need to get more time in it to tell.

Does it sound like the engine is really reving? or does the main gear ratio keep that under control?

START SHAFT

You can get a start shaft from quickheli.com I just ordered one as I did the same thing and broke mine in the same place. As far as power mine seemed under powered at first, but after about 10 tanks fo fuel the engine seemed to loosen up and come alive. As far as over reving the engine seems to be well under control with the stock gearing. I spoke with the people at quick world and was told that they are coming out with an 18 engine with a pull start, pipe and 25 % more power. He said it should be available at the end of April.

All I can say is WOW!
I just got off the phone with Irwin Got my start shaftes comeing along with some G10 frames.
I Know there has been some bad press with him before but he seems very straightforward to me! Talked with him for about 20 min,
I may have to try a Q50.
He also tells me he will have a nice motor and pipe soon for the Q15 that has a lot more power!
Thanks Irwin!

Q15 first flights

CWM How was the CG of the 15? Did you add any nose weight?
What do you reccomend to stop the start shaft from breaking so quick?
Thanks
Michael

Mine balanced out fine with no added weight.
As for the start shaft dont flood it and dont use monster starter!

Have you guys had much luck with the OS 15 or is there another motor that would also suit this heli. I'm looking to get a low cost engine but at the same time I don't want to have to buy another one because the first one is no good.

My 15 has about 2.5 tanks through it so I dont have much to say except that it has started and ran perfect so far.
