Henseleit 3DNT - Rocket - 3DMP > I need a quick response - Clutch direction?

I have a left-hand rotation 3D NT. What direction does the clutch run in relation to the motor? My motor runs CCW and the clutch I was sent looks like it is for a right-hand rotation heli. I talked to Dave at Revolution Models and he says that he runs his clutch with the leading edge in the direction of the engine, meaning slot first. How about the rest of you?

Kao;

I really think you got the wrong clutch. Technically it would still work, but will not have a good clutch-to-clutchbelt engagement, and eventually quickly wear out the liner. I still don't understand why they call the kit like the one you got LEFT HAND when the main rotor head turns CCW which is right hand rotation looking from the top down. May be the German people is looking from the bottom up !!!

Thanks for the quick response. Dave claims that the clutch will engage better with less slip; however, he did say he'd send me the correct clutch if I want. I've never had a machine that ran the clutch in this direction, and the only one that I know of that does is the Cricket. It's pretty easy to swap out the clutch, so I'll run this one and wait for the correct clutch.

Kao;

Thanks for a quick response, too. Can you tell me what is the direction of the rotor head of your 3DNT looking from the top down (CW or CCW). And you did purchased a left-hand kit, correct?

I am going to purchase a 3DNT and just do not want to buy the kit that I have to have a reverse crank engine.

Please reply.

Thanks

I purchased a left-hand kit. I did receive the correct clutch. You can run either clutch. The leading edge opening clutch (reverse from normal) is supposed to grab better at low rpm. The head rotates CCW when looking from the top. I too bought a left-hand version because I didn't want to run a reversed engine.

Thanks Kao for the info. Did you buy yours from Cyberheli? and how long did you have to wait?

Thanks very much.

Cyberheli didn't have the kit and told me I'd have to wait until mid May. Revolution Models ( www.revolutionmodels.co.uk ) had it in stock. I live in sunny California. They shipped on Monday and the package arrived on Thursday. Approximately $60 shipping.

Thanks. You must have paid quite a bit more thru Revolution for the high exchanger rate. Revolution listed for # 850, which is $1360 US.

Thanks

No, I didn't. The prices listed on the Revolution website include the VAT (value added tax) of 17.5%. Since we're in the US, we don't have to pay it. The total price for the kit, blades, shipping and conversion rate was $1350.68.

The cyberheli kit is $1150 plus approximately $100 for blades plus shipping of $60-70. The price is almost identical.

Kaos,
you have the right clutch.
The ccw NT got the clutch from the cw and the cw NT got it from the ccw. Jan changed the direction of the clutch because of problems at lower head rpms. With the new clutch you can hover at 1200 rpm head
speed without a gliding clutch.

Greetings from germany
