I saw an add for some servos and it says that these servos are what makes a crack roll possible. What exactly is that? Thanks Chuck

It's when you do a roll any other maneuver and shake the sticks so fast, using a fast servo, that the heli seems to shake through the entire maneuver like its on crack! Check out the 2007 Ircha coverage on RR, there is some video showing the heli and sticks at the same time.

Wasnt Matt Botos one of the first guys to do "crack"?

Check out this (shortened) video clip of Szabo Jr.

I've heard of people calling this a "Botos Roll".

For a crack roll, its shaking the cyclic stick, right?
So, what do you call it when you just shake the rudder stick?

Life is like a roll of toilet paper...the closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes...

Yes,Matt Botos invented the crack roll and he did it WITHOUT using JR8717 servos...that advertisement pisses me off every time I see it just for that reason

Agreed, crack maneuvers are possible with servos other than 8717s...

A fast servo sure does help though.

Don't ever total up how much you have spent on RC! I've done it a couple times and almost quit both times

You can do crack manouvers with servos such as s9252 or s9451 if you are good at it. I think Alan's got s9451's on his Avant?

I heard he was using 8717's that might be wrong. I know that you don't need a really quick servo but it does help I can do crack rolls with my 9252's but they aren't as fast as when I use a quicker servo.
