If it was based on crashes and £'s spent on repairs per annum, I'd have got up to the giddy heights of "professor" status faster than a Patriot missile.

Mark,
Perhaps if resetting status was not used as "punishment" for sins against the system, people would not feel "punished" for nothing done wrong. As silly as it might seem to some there are people who take a certain amount of pride in the acomplishment of raising their status. It is for some a long drawn out task as they don't post BS but reserve their writings to serve a purpose. Different things make different people feel good or bad. By swinging the arbitrary axe and cutting loyal followers down with it, you have left many feeling wronged. The question now is "do you care?"

No RR's a business. And ticking off customers isn't a good idea. Simple business maxim.

Good point.

BUT BUT BUT...

what is the chance that a user will stop using this forum simply based on the fact that their post count has been readjusted to reflect non-heli related "off-topic" bantering? Same goes for classifieds. Selling an item in the classifieds doesnt benefit anyone but the seller and buyer. Every other section of this forum, excluding the off-topics is helpful to ALL members.

Agreed. I'm not going anywhere.

I am less inclined to agree here sir;
Many buyers and sellers benefit from the classified section and it is an added attraction to draw visitors to the site, increasing hits and value in the advertising market. I think it is an important part of the forum. Also, half the crap I buy in the classifieds needs more crap to go with it so I spend more with Marks advertising clients, and they pay him more.
In the end some of my money ends up in RR's pocket so give me back my veteran status damnit!! It's paid for!!!

NOTE: Smiley faces denote humorous nature of this post. Please don't flame me for it, my fire insurance has lapsed.

How exactly does the classifieds section further one's knowledge of helis or help someone cure a problem they are experiencing?

It just not a helpful part of the forum. I will not argue that it is an important, useful and attractive part of the forum though.

Young pilot can't fly. Needs a part. Part costs $100.00. He has $75.00 in his pocket. Finds a used part in RR classifieds. Makes deal. Flies again.

I just have a broader idea of helpful.

I feel I have steered this thread off course. My apologies.
umdpru, I leave the final word to you sir. Thank you for the exchange.

A better idea would have been to change the thresholds, but to NOT take anyone backwards . . . . . let's face it, on the higher levels, with very few exceptions, if you go from 2100 to 1950 posts - you still deserve what you had . . .

On the other hand if you had 8500 and now have 8150... SO WHAT?!

I don't get it... this is only going to affect those that almost only post on the off topics anyway...

Carl ol' bean, you have touched me deeply(snicker). Mark Ryder, Ima callin' you out(snort). The only possible solution that will satisfy Carl and the many other wronged and loyal followers(guffaw), is to make the status titles such that they more accurately reflect their hard earned positions(bwahahahaha).

Mark Ryder, if you care, you will give at least Carl back his original status title from before the board membership was so brutally abused by your malicious code reformation and character defamation program, here in the darkness of the Fall of '07.(I just shat my pants)

C'mon , children, behave yourselves now.
It wasabout time a BS filter was put in place..(ok! so now i should be "heliman" good keyboard basher DOESN'T mean good heli mechanic or good heli flyer.......I was a bit gobsmacked when i saw I was regarded "elite" or "key" or something......christ, I just try to toss a reasoned opinion into the ring,,,,heaven help the poor sods who looked at my "status" and thought that meant I KNEW what I was talking about

Don't give a stuff about "title"...it's just a bit of fun, like the TWSG and other "off topics".

And like I said, that situation benefits the buyer and seller. The deal does nothing to further the knowledgebase here on RR.

I say lets all use this thread to post whore our numbers back to where they used to be!
