I think its great,it shows whos on here trying to help or talk about helis ,and whos on here telling jokes and BSing......too many people post just to up their status anyway....does anyone really care about the ratings that much??.....watch the replies to off topics drop considerably now

I should clarify, I was speaking from a buyers point of view. The natural tendancy is to be more comfortable sending your money to a well established member who would be less likely to forfeit their long standing reputation. The information is available in the profiles, but thats an extra step.

My surprise at how many people are for sale is only rivaled by my shock at how little they cost

A subtle change for the better. Those whining about classifieds should be happy that a classified section even exists.

Do you really think that people get on here just to "up" their post count? What the hell does a post count matter anyway? If you like getting on and BS'íng then that is what you do. I keep in touch with guys I've flown with all over through RR. Sometimes it's just through mindless banter in "off topics".

Since this topic isnt heli related, it should be moved to the OFF TOPIC section.

But then I wouldn't get one more post out of this sentence.

I think its great.
One of the guys here (I won't say any names, but the guy who only talks about politics in the anti-Bush threads) dropped from "Elite Veteran" to "Senior Heliman". That is probably the hardest of the hard blows.

Myself on the other hand, I was just about to be an "Elite Veteran" sometime in the next few weeks, now, just 1,001 posts to go. (thats a lot of posting in 2 weeks )

"El Dooderino" if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

Maybe we should just create a "Status Builder" thread, and we can post away?

Isn't the point of this forum to discuss heli related stuff, and help each other out? Not to see who has the highest number of posts. Its for that reason I use this forum, and we can all have fun in the off topics still.

Personally I don't like it! So there.

It's not really fair to change to rules on everybody and then apply the new law retroactively.

Make the rule then apply from today on out.

Not cool Mark.

Now that being said, I really don't care. Cuz it don't mean nuthin anyway. It's pretty easy to pick up on the idiots and jerks.

I like the change.
I think you should get 100 extra points for filling out a good profile. That helps credability when evaluating someones post. Yeah, I know some would just fill it out with junk just for the points.

Im a newbie here, so I feel like my vote should count for less, that said, even a new guy might have something positave to add. Of course this change has no effect at all on me, so Im not in a good position to say one way or the other. I will say this.
Since I found this sight I have spent more time here than on my sim, and thats alot. This is a great sight, it seems to me, as good for a newbie as a pro. The one poster may be right, "its not too hard to pick out the good from the bad" (or pretty close to that) but I think it would be very useful to a new guy to have a rate system that was based on the amount of good info relay rather than how many posts a given member has. In other words a system that identified, the most experianced and best communicators. The people who do have the best info and are good at expressing it. I read a thread the other day that was attempting to award the guys who have been the most help. I think thats great. How bout a rating system that is based on feedback generated not from sales but from people who have been helped out. So Id give feedback to a member that helped me with a problem. Not unlike a "sale feedback" but for this feedback, the product is good info.
My 2 cents

I agree with Andy in the fact that it should not retoractive.

It should be from this point on.. I am on here all the time reading and selling etc.. I lost 485 posts due to classifieds. I just dont post as much. For someone who has been in this hobby industry for 24yrs because my status has dropped doens't mean someone is not knowledgable(sp)

But then again it is just a hobby and we are all here to have fun why else would be spend so much money. Addictions are terrible thing to waste

Just my $1 worth.

Like some others have said - why does it matter???? Are your egos so big that a "post count" from a heli forum is actually important??

Remember too that RR is a privately owned site...not a democracy. It doesn't matter if it's fair or not. It's purely up to the owner.

I like the change, it knocked me down quite a bit due to many classified posts over the years - but no biggie. I like looking at a profile and seeing the exact counts in each area. Post counts are useless anyway. I have seen guys with 100 posts give MUCH better info than some dudes with 10,000.

I just went from Elite to Key - sweet, hehe

No RR's a business. And ticking off customers isn't a good idea. Simple business maxim.
