go to your profile and click on your status(click "explanation" it will give you a count

edit...thats the ranking count, your total is in your profile with the new breakdown....sorry bout that

Worthwhile changes for legitimate reasons. Status will now more accurately reflect RC Heli related contributions.

This should encourage somewhat more participation on truly useful threads, yet threads involving pointless nonsense and/or fun 'n' games will be able to continue unabated as well. Fair dinkum.

I would find it even more usefull if Mark could implement some type of rating based on how much the individual actually contributes with his ideas. Something like a star rating that another member could give if he found a topic or answer useful and accurate.

How many veterans have tons of BS posted anyway?

I myself get carried away sometimes, especially when it concerns header tanks and weights regarding the 600N

Great idea however with the dropped status of most people it's only going to drive up worthless replies for those to regain their previous status. Maybe we could have started this as a new rule from this day on and left alone what we already had.

What about going back and deducting from all the off topics and classifieds before this point to make it really fair. Probably too much work. Its is really wierd when you get an Elite Veteran asking how to set up a 401 gyro LOL

I find this type of rating more fair. Some guys keep the day chatting about elections and politics and God knows what more and get "status" without even thinking about helis

Even if our contributes sometimes are erroneous we at least try to help. I doubt alot of people will post to a topic knowing squat just to increase their post count... even if they only think they can contribute its a plus already.

How many times don't we see a a thread about a problem and start throwing ideas? Usually one will do the trick, the other 12 suggestions that were posted my help someone later in the future when he does a "search".

Heck, I went through hell a couple of years ago to make my OS70 to work over half stick and several times I saw posts suggesting an enya #3 plug eventhough those particular posts ended up being other problems like piston wall too thin, carbs not airtight etc etc. It helped me out eventough the same symptons were unrelated at the time.

tchavei, no not even close to rrprofessor however I was real close to veteran and most all of my posts being from the classified section. I've done alot of buying and selling on here and on the GG list many times. Now that I've been knocked down all the way to "heliman" status that is going to make transactions more difficult due to most people first looking at your status when considering purchases. I feel it was unfair to us "Good Guys" that frequent the classifieds more then the Q&A section to be penalized. I completely understand pulling from the Off Topics but wish the classifieds would have been taken more into consideration.

I will agree with that. Classifieds are almost entirely RC Heli related. Those probably should've been kept as part of the legitimate status-related count.

Everybody is treated the same. Classified feedback is separate from status based on post count.

A legitimate concern for a forum host, but in view of one's overall post count (status) being related to perceived worthiness to buy and sell, he has a point.
