Anyone know how to mix the Dx7 so that you can use all 4 banks on the V-Bar

How do you want to select the four modes?

Hi John,
I would prefer a method using the gear and aux switches, but I have not been able to figure out a way. I can get 3 of the four banks, but even then it is not how I'd like it. I can't see using the flight mode switch as useful, so I just don't know hoe to accomplish it.

You could set up a mix with the P-Mixes... Maybe one of the switches could act like dual rates, increasing travel or decreasing travel. Normally the switch would select between Bank1 and Bank2, when the Mixed switch is active it will instead choose between Bank0 and Bank3.

Is 2 banks not enough?

Doug,
Here's a way to do it...

1. Use Aux 2 as the channel for the bank control of the V-Bar.
2. Set Aux 2 to Aux 2 on the "INPUT SELECT" setup menu (this is the default setting).
3. Use Prog Mix 2 and set the master and slave both as AUX 2 and the SW setting to GEAR.
4. Set both rates for negative values, try -50 to start.

You will then have four distinct values for Aux 2 selectable by the four position combinations of the Gear and Aux 2 levers. Tweak the EPAs and mix values to insure you get all four banks.

Great! Thanks John

I was trying something similar but could only get 3 settings. I did not realize that mix2 allowed use of the gear sw to control the mix. I had been using mix3 & it and mix1 do not give gear as an option.

This works perfectly now

Dave, 2 might be plently normally. I'm just getting started using the vbar and was hoping that I could have less "down-hookit-2-laptop-tryagain" time.

One more thing. I decided I wanted to use a ar6200 instead of the ar7000. The 6200 does NOT have aux2 output. So I had to modify John's instructions above as follows:

In the setup menu, set Aux2 as INH and Gear as Aux2

In prog mix2 set gear>gear, rate= -50 & -50, SW=Gear

This will then work as above except it will output the results on the gear channel which can then be plugged into the aux input on the vstabi.

Switches will select as follows:

Code

Gear Aux2 Bank Selected
UP UP 0
DN UP 1
DN DN 2
UP DN 3

Sweet, that works very nicely. Now I just have to remember which switch positions activate which Bank. Once I'm pleased, I'll just go back to having two. One with the Standard parameters for takeoff and landing, and one with Extended (HH) for flight.

How can you tell when a bank is selected by an AUX switch? In Live view or Overview, or some magic light?

Two places.

One, on the Overview screen. You have to select "Bank 0/1/2/3 option in the drop box. To the right, it will display the cirrently selected bank. It takes a second to register when you switch. This will show you what bank you're actually in.

Two, in the Live screen. It should give you a bar displaying the ranges for each Bank. As long as the channel signal is within the correct bar, you're in that bank.
