Well my 120 degree bellcranked CCPM Hawk Pro was flying fairly good in the wind.. I threw it around some last weekend even though the wind was blowing it around a lot.
I actually bent a control rod in flight due to the lack of thrust bearings in the blade grips!

Nice flying, it looks very smooth and stable. What colors are you going to paint the canopy?

Thanks for the comments! I was expecting some smart ass remarks from everybody...

This is the poblem with all involved with this banter about them, Smart alek remarks are almost expected from any side. I am guilty as well and although the flight was nice and smooth, there are a few of us that are truly interested in seeing the airframe beaten down like we do our current airframes.

I too was waiting for some off remark from the Quick haters. Maybe they have finally decided to grow up a little.

This is a two sided street as well, growing up could as easily be applied to the "Quick Fanboys" too. Defending a product of a capability that a person cannot demonstrate and has yet to be demonstrated and then returning fire with "Quick Hater" is no more grown up than anyone bashing the product. But in the end, turn about is fair play and people will get as good as they send.

Of course you know "smooth" flight isn't in vogue according to the 3d crowd.......

Very true for the most part. That is why the request is and always has been a 3D video for 3D pilots who would be or might be interested in buying the airframe for that purpose. I own a Trex 600N because of what I saw it do at my FF before it was ever released. I have wanted to buy a Logo 14 because of Matt Botos and Daniel have shown what it does, especially with a flybarless setup. I saw one tiny video of someone beating up a Pantera and I know own one.. So maybe sarcasm can be put away long enough by all parties to maybe have someone beat one of these 50 sized airframes and show what we are looking for.

I have not bought any Quick heli's because as it stands now they cannot perform what I need, I haven't seen it. All videos point out stable, smooth flight.

I am with Helicrack on this one, show me the reason "I" would want to buy one. Every other airframe I own has shown me something I was interested in. Currently the Quick airframe tells me it would appeal to a beginner or someone looking for sport flying. I am a 3D nut, it is what I want to fly it is what will make me buy a specific model..

Even forgetting all the past posts about customer support, poor quality, etc etc.. The videos dont speak the volumes they need to to sway a person like me to purchase one for use.

What kind of flying do you do? Do you like how your Q50 flies?

Well, it's kind of like this. When you hear time after time for the many folks that just post to say something "anti-quick" you get pretty tired of it. I have never got on here and said that you can stick bang any of these helis all over the sky. I have said time and time again that they would be excellent FAI machines.

Another reason why the "quick Fanboys" might get a little miffed is time and time again they are called junk or crap or whatever because they may or may not be the best 3d bird in the world. There is a lot more to having a good heli than just the ability to do 3d in my opinion, and of course I know that is my opinion....so don't think I'm trying to ram it down folks throats. I have owned and flown several different makes of helis in the last 20 years and have not had any more "issues" with the Quick helis than I had with any of the others.

So sorry if my remark might have sounded "childish", but when you own and fly a heli that does not even come close to resembling the bashing that takes place on these forums, it's hard to just sit and read the nonsense.

Carry on......

I agree with what you are saying 3D is not all a heli is good for nor does it make the heli.. But the request was for a video of one doing 3D. The quick supporters even you got into the 3D request post saying the heli is all that and a bag of chips.. Fine and dandy, but it aint all that to the requestor. It would have been better to state from the experience known that is a uber smooth, good and stable and does excellent aerobatics.

That is all my point was.

Isn't making a 3D heli is simply about longer flybar and lighter paddles? May be a bell|hiller ration of 1:1?

There is a little bit more than that involve in a good rc heli for 3D.

I am really curious to find out what else is involved.
C.G. for sure. But I plaid with C.G. I lowered it a lot, not that much of a difference. Ok, They could reposition battery up front like T-rex 600. Swift flies with battery below and is damn fast.

Pitch range. Ok. Easily achievable on pretty much any heli.
Flybar and ratios. Positioning of the ball links.
Powerful motor.

I don't know, may be I am missing something, but most of the heads I see look very much the same to me.

You would raise the cg for improved 3d.

Visit too QWW

I was in QWW store warehouse on Saturday after Jet rally at a local club.

QWW has some new electrics that are very light & appear to be very 3Dish. Irwin took the FLY out & I could not believe how smooth & powerful it was.

After talking with Irwin, I saw some drawing of a new 50 that is very different than any thing I have seen in the market before.

It appears to be compact yet easy to maintain. Once they finish there new EP HARDCORE 600 I understand they will focus on the 50 nitro first then there new 90 machine.

QWW really has some great heli ideas.

I wish a 90 would be priority, but the fact of the matter is 50's out sell 90's. Take this test, walk into any LHS and ask for a OS or YS 91.
All of the hobby shops i have been to in NorCal, Oregon, and western Washington which is about 15-20 only 2 have and stock 91 size motors.

So 91 size birds make up only a small percentage of the heli market, thus why the 50size birds get the most attention.

I do, and it is a blast to "fly". My only complaint is that it doesn't produce any smoke....so it will not get rid of the mosquitos.

It's a lot more stable than I thought it would be, but still very aerobatic. With a 6s4000mah battery the auw is 5lb 9oz. Some say it is heavy for the size, but it sure doesn't fly like it is heavy. My gasser has kind of been getting lonely since I started flying this electric bird.

I dont fly 3d. I was not flying for about a year. I was gettin decent and workin on some easy 3d stuff but didnt get very far. I am doing basic stuff loops rolls nothing major. I need to get back to more basic stuff. I have this thing about lookin at the side of the heli, it confuses me. I need to work on that alot. I have a trex 450 and that is what that will be for, or i could use my wifes cx2.
I have a QWW 50 and outdo. I am still workin on the outdo. I have some cheap servos in it and it goes up and down. Dont even look like the swash plate is moving. cyclic is ok. I am running an align 6 amp reg. They got the volts and amps. They are blue bird 620mg servos. By the specs they should work. The head is very free and no binding on the thrust bearings. I have pulled and turned on them, all ok. Anyway, they both fly great, smooth and percise. The 50 has the pro silver and black head with about six linkages on the head, I think it is the one that you get with the gasser.
Talk at you all later!!!!
