Hi folks,

last Saturday I had my first 3 succesful test flights with my new flybarless TRex600e. It felt quite different while flying, very twichy around the stick center and sort of delayed too giving stick inputs.
It was kind of difficult giving the correct inputs.

I use Cyclock, 2 CSM 720 gyros and Fut. 9255 servos on swash.

The settings for the 720's I took originally from trex-tuning.com

I sure have to adjust the params but don't know exactly how. Maybe somebody can help me. I already got some hints from the "freaks"
like leading edge control instead of trailing edge control.

I'd be happy if any of you could post their gyro setups.

Thanks and regards
Laszlo

The key to tuning the CSM system is to understand which settings do what. It's bearly impossible to just "copy" someone's setup unless everything is identical. RussD has posted instructions somewhere about how to make adjustments to find the perfect settings for each heli. Search around and you should be able to find it.

What are you using to reduce servo throw?

Laszlo,

Are you getting any vibrations during hard collective inputs? I was looking at how much delta you have on the links going up to the blade grips and you have a bit of a Y in yours where the links are leaning towards the grips. You want those links as straight as possible (I.E. the balls on the blade grip arms should line up with the center of the head making the links straight up and down) Does this make sense? I don't know if there is a aftermarket longer blade grip post for the Align blade grips. Also can you tell me what diameter your main shaft is? I was thinking of designing a phase ring/swashdriver for the 600 and having my friend who owns a machine shop make one up sorrta like the one pictured in the beginning of this thread by ESprit models.

Take care,

Kyle

Hi Kyle,

no, I dind't notice any vibrations during hard collective input.
I know, the geometry of my setup is not ideal, but so far there's
no aftermarket blade grips to fix this delta issue. I dind't find
any longer ball links either, that would fit easily.
The main shaft is 9,7mm.
It would be great, having a special phase ring/swashdriver for the 600.
Pls let me know, when it's available.

Thanks
Laszlo

Hi Dave,

yes, you're right. I was reading through all the different forums and websites to learn how the system works. The infos from RussD and all the other guys helped me alot.

I thought for me it would be easier, if someone who has about the same setup could post their params, instead of 'inventing the wheel' one more time.

Meanwhile, slowly I started to comprehend the coherences of the different params.

Nevertheless, I'm going to start playing with D/R, piro start/stop rate and direct coupling a little more to achieve a better setup.

Servo throw is reduced by Cyclock

Thanks
Laszlo

Hi Laszlo

Most of your settings look pretty good. If you go to Real Raptors knowledge base they have some excellent information on a 600 Trex setup. In here they explain a number of the features and what they do. Bear in mind, alot of this is still in the learning phase.
I have found that I needed to reduce my exponential stick sensitivity in the gyro down to about 10, and the linear to around 25-30. It also helps dramatically to put in some mixes in the radio to help reduce your gain when pushing your elevator and aileron channels (I have then on separate gain channels, so they are mixed individually). This way you can increase the gain on your TX to more, without inducing any wobbles. Also I notice on your pic that your aileron gyro does not look perfectly perpendicular(could just be the angle of the photo).

Hi Jayway,

thanks for your suggestions!
I already went through the pages at Real Raptors, good infos indeed.
I know my TX (Graupner MC-22) has various mixing possibilites, but I've never used them until now. So first I have to figure out how this works.
The aileron gyro is perpendicular.
I will try the numbers you gave me.

BTW last saturday I had some more succesful flights. By reducing the TX gain for the gyros from 75% to 60% the wobble effect disappeared almost completely.
Right now, I'm 95% satisfied with the stick feeling and the flight characteristics. It's just a little bit of fine tuning needed.

Finally working

Hi everyone,

after fiddling around and experimenting with the settings of the 720 gyros and the TX gain and cyclic to gain mixing (thanks Jayway), I finally found a satisfying setup for my flying style. Very fast cyclic, but not to twitchy stick feeling. Almost exactly what I wanted.
YEEEEEEHAAAAA I'm back to rock'n'roll.

It was kind of a struggle with all the different params but with the help of you guys, I could finally manage to arrive at the finish line. Thank you much.

ZOOOM,
Can you post your final settings on EVERYTHING?
Thanks,
