I'm Building a Graupner Bell 230 with Uni-Expert mechanics for a friend, and I' m having trouble getting the OS WC engine to fit.

I'm sure I have assembled the engine-clutch-fan correctly, but when I install it in the frames the fan rubs against the top of the cooling shroud.
I've tried bolting the engine onto the lower set of holes in the mount (which is what the instructions show), but then it is much too low and the layshaft gear fouls the bottom of the cluth bell. In fact the mount holes won't line up at all.
Also, the top of the clutch bell rubs (albeit lightly) against the bottom of the fan.
Am I doing something drastically wrong or is this a known problem?
Do I need to sand a fraction off the top of the fan?

Any help would be appreciated.

First try switching the mounts, ie. put the left one on the right side. This may make a difference if they are not symetrical. Also remove any thrust washer that may be installed between the clutch and engine front bearing on the crank. That would allow the clutch/fan assy to seat lower in relation to the fan shroud.

Engine mount and Fan Shroud fitment

I am building Uni 2000 mechanics fitted with a O.S. SX-HG engine.
I seem to have a couple of problems ?

1. The engine mounting instructions states ( I am using the 14mm pinion)•

If you are using a metal clutch bell with a 14 mm pinion, the lower threaded holes in the motor mounts must be 16 mm from the bottom edge of the motor mounts; if that is not the case, swap over the right and left motor mounts.

Is the above measurement from the botttom of the engine mount to the bottom of the threaded holes or to their centre ?

2. When I slide the Fan shroud down onto the air duct, the shroud sits approx 2mm above the upper struture so as the holes for bolting them together do not match up.

What am I doing wrong ?
