I'm happy to get this high quality kit from http://www.sanitware.com/Products.htm

Here's the pic of the parts in the bag

Beautiful carbon frames and metal parts.

The key specifications of this Korea designed electric heli are:
Length 660mm
Height 218mm
Main Blade 325mm (great! It's compatible with most blades)
Weight 420g
Flying Weight ~880g

I will write a build thread shortly.

Wonder why Miniature isn't listed as a dealer?

To hover is divine, the alternative is rather PLANE.

saw this baby at RCE hobby.. very good machined parts.. but a bit beyond my budget got another Hoss X4E kit instead but i might get the main rotor or tail assembly and try it on the hoss kit. hope that whiteshark or ammo will start selling the beam spares in sg soon.

looking forward to this build thread

Tha manual starts with the usual content page, safety instructions, additional items to be purchased and tools required.

The assembly started with the main frame. The first thing I noticed was that all the metal parts of slightly dull in colour. I understood that this was a special type of "hardened" metal. The bearing blocks were pre-assembled. All the metal parts fitted perfectly with the carbon frame. For the top bearing block, note that the word "Beam" should face upwards. Also note the lower bearing block, the surface whereby the bearing was flush with the block should face upwards. Again, note that the flat surface of the motor mount should face upwards.

The tail boom would be "clamped" down by 2 metal block. So note the orientation of the slits. The manual drawings showed 2 long 2x25mm socket head bolt going through on the lower left side of the boom clamp and 2 shorter 2x6mm socket head bolt going through the lower right side of the boom clamp.

When I finished the main frame, I was surprised to find that the whole frame assembly is angled forward slight i.e +ve angle of attack. This means that the heli will be pretty fast in forward flight Coupled with the light frames, wow, I bet it's going to be a 3D monster.

The landing gear assembly was straight forward. It's not the 1 piece landing gear, so the nitro guys will find it familiar. the landing gear was mounted on a lower carbon frame.

When this whole assembly was attached to the main frame, the entire air frame felt so solid and rigid. And it's a challenge to achieve such a rigid frame without increasing the weight of the air frame.

The swash plate was of high quality design. There's absolutely no slop! I'm extremely pleased with this because coming from a F3C background, swash plate quality is important.

The assembly of the main gear was the tricky part. I will explain in detail shortly.

Sorry for the delay. I was occupied with 3DX Singapore.

Before you insert the main frame into the 2 piece main gear, you have to run the tail drive belt onto the 2 piece main gear. The design is similar to the one on the Raptor 50.

Make sure that the belt runs inside of the bearing guides for belt drive. If you run the belt outside of the bearing guides, the belt will rub against the main frame.

It is advisable to apply some grease onto the main shaft before you insert it into the main gear. Also note that there's a main shaft locker that's underneath the top main shaft bearing. There's a grove on the main shaft and the locker should be tighten at this spot. Make sure there's no vertical free play.

The tail assembly of the BEAM is particularly good. This solid design will solve the tail problems that many other mini electric heli had. I had done backwards flight and tail slide and the BEAM's tail doesn't give way.

The stock plastic tail blades are sufficient. No need to get carbon upgrades.

The main rotor head features a short centre hub for quick response. The main blade grips are trailing edge.

I'm pleased that the rotorhead comes preassembled and the skill of the production worker is fairly good.

For those who are already skilled pilots, the bells and whistle of the BEAM kit actually more economical compared to upgrading a stock plastic kit to a all carbon and metal airframe.

I'm glad that all the servos, motor, ESC and gyro from my mini Titan can be transplanted over to the BEAM.

The specs are:

Cyclic servos : Hitec HS65
Motor : Scropion
ESC : Jeti Spin 44
Gyro set : GY401 + S9650

However, the stock tail servo mount is abit small for the S9650 and I had to use a Trex tail servo mount instead.

I like the cyclic servo mount design very much as it fits the HS65 beautifully. All the control rods are at right angle to the servo horn when the controls are put at neutral. This is very important because CCPM is used.

I applied orange colour spray onto the fibreglass canopy. I understand that BEAM is working on new designs for the canopy.

I believe there's also air spray painted fibreglass canopy for sale as an option part.

It 3D better but the aerofoil of the blade make it quite stable for hovering as well.

Tracking is good. Rolls straighter too.

But it's all carbon frame and I'm getting glitches occasionally. Will have to reroute the antenna.
