I'd say that there are not many people that can get this beat this on the stupidity scale.

I had my field box battery sititing beside my helicopter. Then I went to screw around my helicopter. I didn't notice the batter and laid my hand on the battery while i was hooking the fuel line up. Before I knew what was going on, my watch started burning me like a scalded ape. A couple of links actually glowed red hot. To make things worse, i had a safety clip on the main clip of the watchband. Then I burned my other hand trying to unclip the watch. By the time i finally got my watch off, the room smelled like KFC's burned chicken.

Now I got three dime sized blisters on my arm and smaller imprints of my watchband all over.

To top things off I now have to wear the watch on my right hand! (feels weird)

But seriously -- I'm just kidding, and I hope you are alright now.

Life?

Ouuuuuch, don't add a bruised ego to those other hurts. Stuff happens-I have really gross pics of two of my fingers(that I won't share) that I shoved into an 18" prop, thank God the prop was wood and choke was on (gas engine) and the RPM's were low, or I might not be typing this right now.
Trust me: I won't be doing THAT again any time soon. ------BladeRunner.

Well Aiirbeast if it makes you feel any better. I did virtually the same thing way back when I was building muscle cars. Was tinkering with something another and somehow my arm with my watch got in touch with 12V. Burned the hell out of my wrist, ruined my new watch. pissed me off, but didn't hurt the car atleast Like I said, if it makes you feel any better. Only difference is that was 15 years ago for me and I learned my lesson then and have wised up now....

Bladerunner..

Blade maybe we should change your name to Blade Rippperrr.. Be glad you didn't have an APC Meat Eater on there..

As for the battery incident, I've heard a story of a heli pilot after crashing, putting the remains of his heli in the back of his pick up, on the drive home the battery shorted out, caught the bed on fire and burned up his pick up.. Now thats a BAD day at the field.

I did something very similar Except, the power source was a 440VAC ship board power distribution panel. the watch was fine afterwards except it ran backwards from then on. It was also 30 years ago.

Shows you that anything can and will happen. Mr. Murphy is always waiting in the wings to get you. I work in the Emergency Dept. and trust me the stories never end. All it takes is a momentary lapse of thought. Also when I assisted the FAA on accident prevention accidents are taught as a series of events leading up to the one incident. We can all learn from this to be ever vigilent in this endeavour as when you least expect it something could get you. Stay Safe!

Hey... It shows how stupid can human be...
You don't get my sympathy, just like the say.. sympathy is between shi. and suicide.
Hope this incident tought you a good lesson, you can get more damage from your heli.
By the way we're already stupid enough to get into this hobby. Don't make it worse!

...

sorry to hear about your accident, hope that battery makes it through OK!

ive never had any mishaps with batteries, but airplane props are like magnets to my fingers!

one time i was holding the glow starter on my motor on my plane while my buddy turned it over, not realizing, i had my index finger dangling over the prop, needless to say it whacked the tip of my finger a few hundred times and sprayed blood all over my plane like a fire hose! we could figure out where it was coming from till I lifted my arm away and blood dripped down my arm, i didnt feel anything for about 5 minutes, then it started throbbing like i hit it with a hammer! it was a tiny gash, but i think it got down to my bone.

my plane was ok, the blood wiped off

Next time leave your battery at home, fly a gasser

Leave your watch at home too, it's always time to fly.

Oh well, it's all good.

As long as the battery and the watch are ok!

My arm will heal for free.
