Sorry about the mishap, but Damn are you flying on a golf course??? Beautiful greens. All we have out here are rocks and dirt.

its the clubs flight field. Its an airstrip that we are allowed to use. On the other side of the tall grass is the landing strip. It really isn't as big as it looks. We usually fly one at a time. Sometimes, the planes will fly two at a time.

Lets see, I was doing something new for me. If you guys have followed any of my other threads, you will know that I haven't been doing fast forward flight for long. I have done loops, rolls and flips. I can now hover face in, but need more practice. But anyways, I digress. I was thinking the other day about flying sideways and doing a loops. So, on my first flight, I did one like that. It didn't act like a loop flying forward, but it wasn't undoable. On my second flight I did another one. It went well. Then I went to do one more. I was a little lower than the first two and I noticed that I was going to finish my loop in the ground. I gave it full throttle to pull out, but it was too late. I smacked the ground hard. I have a throttle cut switch on the radio so I shut it down, which may or may not have saved the clutch. But I did hit the ground hard. Very hard. But at least the crash is from doing some new flying for me rather than a mechanical or radio problem which had been plaguing me in the earlier part of the year.

good news, even though the frame broke, the frame stiffeners aren't damaged at all.

Thought some of you might have been curious about how the clutch faired.

Just a quick update. The heli has been rebuilt. I am setting up the collective pitch right now. I hope to hover it a bit tomorrow.

I've taken it up for two tanks mostly hovering. Its hovering well. I just need to tune the engine properly. Even the tail drift is better than before. We had high wind today so that may be the cause of the very small tail drift I had.

The pics of all the broken bits... that's tidier than my workshop when I have a 'complete' heli on the bench

LOL! Thats the dining room table. I have to clear it every night so we can eat on it. My work table is a mess. I need a new work bench, but the heli keeps me broke.
