AltecLansing Key Veteran Location: Under the tire of a truck
| Lets see, I was doing something new for me. If you guys have followed any of my other threads, you will know that I haven't been doing fast forward flight for long. I have done loops, rolls and flips. I can now hover face in, but need more practice. But anyways, I digress. I was thinking the other day about flying sideways and doing a loops. So, on my first flight, I did one like that. It didn't act like a loop flying forward, but it wasn't undoable. On my second flight I did another one. It went well. Then I went to do one more. I was a little lower than the first two and I noticed that I was going to finish my loop in the ground. I gave it full throttle to pull out, but it was too late. I smacked the ground hard. I have a throttle cut switch on the radio so I shut it down, which may or may not have saved the clutch. But I did hit the ground hard. Very hard. But at least the crash is from doing some new flying for me rather than a mechanical or radio problem which had been plaguing me in the earlier part of the year.
Man, I miss the eighties. |
