HIROBO Freya - Sceadu - Shuttle > Freya 91 kit and GPH

I got word yesterday that my Freya 91 kit is in. It will be about anothger month before I can start on it as I am finishing up another project.

The other good news is I finally decided to try some aerobatics with my GPH. Today I did my first loops and rolls.

I also created an idle up-2 with a -9 0 +9 pitch scale. It was no big deal hovering at 3/4 stick. It did take some adjustments to get the throttle curves right. I am not running a governor and I want the head speed to be about 1800-1900. The initial settings were too high the tail was being over driven. Didn't take long to get it right on the + side. It maybe a while before I check out the - side

good luck with the freya 90

i saw a guy crash his right on the runway, not only was the heli trashed but the rx, batt, and gy601 amplifier were smashed.

cause- tail failure, he said that the tail was over worked and something gave. pretty sad way to end the first flight(engine was broken in already)

Freya 90

I have a Freya 90 on the way, supposedly one of two available from Ron Lund. I also ordered the 93 tooth main gear, YS80, Hatori 2 piece. In order to get the correct gear ratio I also placed an order with Cyber Heli for the 11 tooth pinion. This should give me the proper gear ratio for the YS 80 (8.45)???? If not I can try the 95 tooth main and/or 12 tooth pinion that is shipped with the Freya 90 kit. The 90 kit also supposedly comes with a hardened SS main shaft. Not sure what other upgrades to expect, but we will see.

I'd like to hear more about the "overworked" tail info.

Please let me know what happened other than spinning into the runway. If a part failed, I would like to know about it and offer assistance. Have your friend contact me please.

What is THE perfect setup for a Freya 90. I have an OS 61WC with Nitro pipe in mine and would like to convert it to the OS 91 with muffler. I hear a few gear ratios but what is the best for this setup? Any other upgrades needed that may make it more bullet-proof. I heard rumor about a bearing failure that could be fixed by using a Boca bearing, but I don't remember which bearing they were talking about? I have the third bearing block and governor. Thanks.

91 setup

Hey dude,

I am using the Hirobo recommended 12/95 combination with an EX tuned Hashimoto pipe on 15 %. Seems to be very happy. I just got a Hatori 980 to try though maybe I should have gotten the 984 instead. I'll have to saeve some pennies to get it for comparison. I am runninh 1900 head speed, which is under the Hirobo rating for the head. I used to run 1750, 1800, but went for the 1900 to put the motor where it is happy on paper. So far so good. I'd recommend it. Finally 11T pinions will be here soon for us and I'll compare that to it.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure if I should run a pipe or muffler on the 91? With the governor already on board I am leaning towards using a muffler since I am told the 91 has more than enough power anyway? I tried using the governor with a pipe and have not been overly impressed so far.
