They cost more in the long run
I thought I would save a couple bucks and get one of those $8 fans from ebay. Serves me right.

You think your kids are expensive now?

Just wait until they move out!!

I think you must have had some other issue going on. I got one of the so called "cheap fans from ebay" installed it on the fan hub, got it to balance perfectly, and have been flying it without any problems at all. If it was installed properly on the fan hub, even out of ballance it would not cause that kind of damage. It looks like something came loose and then the fan tore into the hub. I think the only difference from one metal fan to another is the cooling fins. The 3DX fan is different than the Align fan. The all mount the same on the fan hub. An out of balance fan would show up as a vibration in the airframe. I doubt that even being out of balance would do the damage you are showing. I have had fan's out of balance on my 90 size heli's and have not had that kind of damage happen. Get a new hub and a new fan and have another crack at it. Remember the loctite!!!!!!

Good luck.......

What you say have lots of sense….

If the 2 big bolts were lost or not tight, then load was only acting in dose 2 little bolts, so it was causing extra load, making the material to fail.
