Align T-REX 600N 700N > Two-Way Step-Down V Regulator - Question?

I have a 611/9256 on the tail.
And I'm trying to use the Align 5.1V two-way step down...
but when I plug it in between the 9256 and the 611,
I loose all power in the servo?

I'm on my 2nd step down, I thought the 1st one may have been bad..
any ideas?

Gravity Works...no, the other left. ok,ok

It sounds like a bad step-down (2 in a row?).

I have the exact same setup (611+9256 w/ Align 2-way step-down connected between servo and gyro), and mine is working fine.

The difference with the two way step-down is that you can also put it between the BEC/Regulator and the receiver to make everything run on 5.1v (http://www.align.com.tw/shop/produc...roducts_id=1814).

Does your ESV show voltage without the stepdown? 5.8 would be expected. If so does it show voltage with it? It could be the 611, the step down, the servo etc.

Also you might try a servo that will accept 5.8v with and without the step down to see who the culprit really is. Careful though if it is not a high frame rate servo you will need to change the setting in the gyro or you might fry it. Not sure with the 611 but assume that is the case.

Same thing happen to one of our pilots where I fly. He went with another brand of stepdown and it's OK now. I think maybe the Align stepdown can not handle the current of the servo. It would only fail under a load.

Why bother with a step down to 5.1v?

The Servo you are using (on the GY611) will happily run at 5.8v (if regulated) and thats official.

The problem you are having could be related to overloading the stepdown.

I've been running this servo on 3 machines for over a year at 5.8v without issue.

I've been doing the same without any problems. No servo failures to date. It's safe if it's regulated to 5.8. Lipos that are regulated produce more consistent power than a NiCd.

We haven't seen Colonel Angus around these parts for years!
