Align T-REX 600N 700N > 600N sport Decals - application help

hi everyone,

I am putting together my 600N sport, and was wondering how I would apply the decals. Are they the type that I will have to soak in water before applying? If not, do I just cut them to size and try and peel them off without getting them wet? If this is the case, can I apply windex on the canopy to allow for a loose fit and adjustment before they dry permanently?

Thanks so much for your help

Dont soak them in water. I used a little bit of soapy water and smoothed them out over that and it worked ok. They are kinda hard to get all the bubbles out because the canopy flexes a bit but it does work..

Honey, I just need this one more thing and then I'm set..

Trim them out, peel backing and apply windex or alcohol to the sticky side, position on the canopy, and then squeegee out any bubbles and excess liquid with a credit card. That's how I do all my canopies and my graphics always come out perfectly smooth.

I've used lightly soapy water on both the canopy and stickers. This allows the stickers to be respositioned easily. Once in place I start blotting the execess water from one edge working across the surface.

the water does not damage the "sticky"?

I cut out the sticker , then i remove a little bit of the backing at one end. Then i postition the the sticker and stick down the exposed section , then remove another bit of backing and place it down , repeat as needed.
To remove more backing i roll the sticker over and the backing will want to stay straight , makes it easy to cut off.

When you get close to the end use a hobby knife instead of your fingers (fingers have nasty non sticking oil in them )

It should be fine, I do it all the time.
If you're concerned, test with a scrap piece of the decal.
When you see how easy it is to position, smooth out and how well it adheres when dry, you'll be sold on the method.

I'll stake your reputation on it!

After all that work they still tend to bubble up and start coming off at different places.

Mike, I had the same problem with mine. And, when I clear coted it, the clear peeled off most everywhere and it was good automotive Dupont CC.

I finally gave up on trying to protect the decals...

If the canopy is cleaned well of mold release, fingerprints, and such before applying, they stick farily well. Before completely dried, I run a hair dryer (hot, but not too hot) over the decal on corners and curves to help with adhesion. In doing so, the decal takes the form of the canopy and doesn't tend to try to pull away.

Decals are a pain....

I have done them but I think I am going to learn how to paint them as I can just wetsand and repaint when needed. I will used the decals on my 600N for the first time then when needed I will just stick to painting.

Just from my experience....
