Gohbee Aviation Stinger 30-90 > New Nitro

Ok, a brief background.

I've been flying electric heli's for about 4 years.

I'm currently running a 450SE V2, a Falcon 3DSE, and a Mini Titan, and a Trex 600e. All configured with most of the usual stuff.

I can do basic 3D, been working lately on tail down funnels and climbing Tocs. However, I am becoming angry with the cost of flying the big electrics, and the lack of power as the packs drain is getting irritating. I think it's time to buy a Nitro.

That being said - I am really not looking to spend a massive amount of money.

Right now, I'm looking at a 50 Titan and a Gohbee Stinger 50 w/OS Hyper.

I'd like a really honest comparison of the two heli's. I can get the Gohbee out the door w/Motor for like 500.00, or better.

I'm looking at at least 750-800 for a 50 Titan w/same motor. I was under the impression that the big draw for the 50 Titan was the motor.

Again, I do basic 3D, so it's not like I'm going to push either bird to it's max.

I am however worried about parts availability for the Gohbees, and I'm worried about overall quality. Any advice or information would be appreciated.

I found myself in the same situation you were in about 4 months ago. I really didn't want (or really have) to spend the money on a really expensive machine. I new that even if i could afford it i would be scared to fly it. So i baught a stinger 50. It was a great deal, 500 or so for everything i needed to get in the air. I was happy to see that it came with some metal in the head and a heavy duty tail rotor.
I have not flown a raptor. I have seen many in person. I can't honestly tell the difference in quality. Although, i see alot of people saying there is a huge difference. Maybe i am just not so picky . When i baught the heli, i wasn't expecting it to be an raptor se or t-rex (wich alot of people compare it to). The biuld was easy. I had some problems with the motor alignment that took less than 1 hour to fix but everything else went together great. The day came for me to fly it and i was a little nervous. Wasn't sure what to expect with such a low cost machine . I set the multi gov at 1900 and spooled her up. To my surprise, traking was right on and she had only a slite vibe in the tail. I took off only to be more surprise. Rock solid hover, no problems at all, VERY STABLE. So i transitioned into flight and DARN, almost flipped the thing over. Cyclic was amazingly responsive. Went into some FFF and there was no signs of pitchyness. (this is with stock dampers and padles BTW). I have since switched to the ON EDGE dampers and 15gram paddles. Haven't had a chance to try it yet.
So the head really performes great. The tail was great to. Very responsive. All in all, for the money i am happy with it. The parts are CHEAP compared to other brands. Is the quality as good as raptor or some of the other brands. Probabley not. Do i care. Not at all. The heli flies great so i can't really complain.

I have to agree with everything that Cambo said.

The only other thing is that you mention that you do not have the need for max power. Since you are working on climbing tocs, that is a very power hungry maneuver, especially while you are still learning it.

You would very quickly notice the extra power of the OS Hyper over the TT 50. It is also very worthwhile to get a good pipe. I am running the JK Hatori with excellent results and I have heard nothing but good about the MP5, although I have not tried one myself yet.

Once you start flying the nitro you will be pleased to find out that the performance actually gets better toward the end of the flight as the fuel load is burned off and the heli gets lighter.

I agree with the other guys. I have been very pleased with my Stinger 50. I like them so much I've got two. Just breaking in the OS50 hyper on the second one. I added the CY MP5 pipe to it in order to get the extra power. Plus with a Gohbee, you get great service from David.

If I were to buy a value for money 50 size heli at the moment , it would be either a Knight 50 Sport , or TRex 600 Nitro sport .

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

Engine Mount Trouble

I keep hearing that OS50 motor requires dremeling to fit into the Gohbee 50, has this been fixed?

Also, whats the difference between 600NS and 600NPro besides the torque tube?

Fibreglass canopy / plastic canopy , carbon fibre frames / G10 fibreglass frames , as far as I know that's it - along with the different tail drive . Personally , I prefer the durability of a belt drive anyway.

A note to everyone. Yes. We have fixed the engine clutch alignment. There should be no need to dremel frames anymore.

I must have been lucky because I did not have to dremel either of my stinger 50's.

Over and above a great heli at a great price is the best customer support in the business.

I Have to disagree with all of you that have a gohbee. It is manufactured in China and most of the time the swashplate is so sloppy in hard 3D manuevers you might as well buy the raptor because
you eventually need the raptor swashplate to keep the sloppiness from coming back. But financially the gohbee is good for the short term but bad investment for the long term.

What Gobee swash are you talking about ? the all metal one or the plastic and metal one...I have used both and while I don't fly 'hard 3d' I have done other maneuvers that put stress on the swash...and I have not seen any big slope develop in either of those... In fact just about everyone I have talked who has flown both... liked the way it fly's much better than a raptor...quicker cyclics no pitchy FF etc.

Sorry your swash caused you a problem....

Actually both, but I am glad that other people having good luck with them. I kinda chalk it up to my luck in buying one that is defective but is like anything you buy that is a possiblity. More than likely
I will buy another one to see if they will improve their line before
raptor does but not anytime soon though

Hi,

I have a Gohbee 30 and a Gohbee 50 and i have had great success
with both. i am able to do some 3d stuff rolls/flips high speed banks
and parts are priced right. for the money they are great.

And i think the Gohbee head is nicer than the Rapter.

my 30 is the most stable machine and runs for ever on fuel
