Beautiful job, guy.

I'm going to cheat on this glass X-Cell 30 canopy I'm doing. Base coat of yellow, with red & blue MonoKote pieces for the trim. I've never been worth a darn at masking...

I tried this trick on the wheel pants of my latest plank project, and so far it's holding up fine- and that is with LusterCote as a clear sealer. The automotive clear that will seal this canopy should be much better.

BTW, I just got into larger planks- bought myself a H9 quarter scale CAP for my Xmas present. Lots of things to consider with these bigger models- this should be fun.

Hi Steve

I don't know if you remember me, my name Evon, I'm the one with the TSK Mystar 46 with the one way start bearing problems.

Three start bearing latter I temporarily retired the TSK till I felt like doing a complete tear down and rebuild of the entire helicopter .

Something somwhere is out of square. I also started a second business building 35% & 40% 3D Aircraft . So far I've completed a 35% Radicraft Extra 330 repaired a badly crashed Carden 40% Cap232 and I have another crashed Carden 40% Edge 540 under repair right now (The Fury Canopy is sitting on the nose of the 540) I also have orders to build 3 35% Edge 540's and 2 40% 540's. So as you can see I don't have time to mess with a finicky TSK, I have to get flying time in there to.

Howdy!!!
Great looking canopy!!! I really prefer simpler designs like yours for overall visibility in the air. Extreme graphics are cool, but often tough to see. I think you should sell a bunch of those planewings in the background and buy more helicopters......

Argue for your limitations and sure enough, they're yours

I like the canopy. Going to use the decals? the picture is so great I am fascinated on whats underneath it. Is that a 1/2 scale 300s?

Sure, Evon; I remember you.

Just where did you get all of those bearings? There was a rash of torrington bearing failures in 46 and 30 clutches about five years ago. In addition to losing one myself, I talked with five other owners who suffered this. Long-time readers will have no trouble guessing where all six of those clutches came from.

Another possibility is a mis-alignment in your start shaft bearing block. If the start shaft is stressed at all, or bent even slightly, that will make short work of the bearing.

hello Aluminum2

The plane underneath the canopy is a Carden 40% Edge 540 which was crashed by a good friend and I am repairing it for him, as far as the stickers, it's a paint job I'm doing for someone, And wether or note he puts %@#*&%$STICKERS on it or not is up to him.

Hi Again Steve

The bearings came from Boca Bearing. Do you think I should try some from Helitech. I really got bummed with working on it after having so many problem so I set it aside for a while and I picked up a Ergo 46 NIB for $239.00 from Great Lakes. I couldn't pass it up for the price of a Raptor.
You wouldn't want to make a trade would you. I'll Paint your canopy for you if you'll put may TSK togeather and make it work. Just to entise you heres a Raptor canopy I just finished. Talk to you soon

Very nice MobileRaptor, I'm with inspector Fuzz, visabilty is a good thing. But, you inadvertantly gave away your secret!!

Trying to convert THAT large an aircraft with the heli canopy just aint gonna work! I know, I need some sort of therapy-I can't afford it, all my money is tied up in helis. -------BladeRunner.

Evon,

The Boca bearings should be good. I'm thinking now that you're either hydraulic locking the engine on the first start (which the bearing will only stand a little of) or there is a major alignment problem in the start shaft area.

I believe you told me that you passed through Baton Rouge on occasion, and that I suggested you take an extra day and come up here and we would get that puppy sorted out. That offer still stands. And you won't even have to paint my canopy... Thanks for that offer, BTW.

Hey man,
Thanks for the compliment! The picture does NOT do it justice. You will not regret getting one of these machines. Talk about clean...route the servo wires in the frames and you can't see them except where they go into the receiver. This kit is very easy to build and work on. Light??!!! Fast??!!! Maaaaannnnnn. It cruises thru the air with an STII. I can't imagine what it would be like with an 80, but oneday will find out for myself. I have flown one w/ an 80 in it and it was gurgling rich. Did climbing tornadoes w/o any problems at all and climbed like a homesick angel!! Get ONE!!!!

Chris,

You really won't regret it. Not only does it flying as good, or better than anything on the market, it is very simple to work on and durable, as well. I haven't flown this much during the winter months in years.

Kev and I are hoping to make it to the Bham funfly with you guys. I am sure it will be a blast with alot to watch. Keep in touch bud.

Conrod no prob it is a sweet looking canpoy, I am hoping my R60 canopy will be done soon so I can put a pic up. It should be sweet, a local painter is doing it for me. He told me there will be 3 neons in it so it will be easy to see.
