I ended up with an extra digital tail servo (like the one shipped with the GY611). Can I use it with the GV1 governor or will the servo’s unique narrow pulse be damaged by the GV1.

I learned to fly inverted, I just stand on my head

nope you can't use it.

if you want something fast and reliable get an 8700 or 8900g but you must remember the gv1 operates at about .18 secs so anything faster is wasted on a gv1. gv1 is old hat tech now and to get the best, and i said best not something that works, you need a revlock or multigov etc. gv1 is perfectly capable but there are other better options now.

cheers

Now when you say better, does that mean that the GV1 is doing something less than its job managing the headspeed? Does it lose track of the correct rpm? Or do you mean the others are better just simply because it is less expensive?

I like my GV1 other than it is expensive but I haven't found any other reason to replace it. Real easy to configure too. I have a revmax but haven't found a reason to install it.

the new crop are better for a number of reasons.

1. they are cheaper.
2. they are faster (the gv1 operates at .18 secs so a faster servo than this isn't doing anything)
3. new govs include a limiter
4. they are much lighter.

i think that sums it up pretty well but as i said the gv1 still does its job it's just i wouldn't buy one now myself.

cheers

If you watch a helicopter flying around in a sky tach with a gv1 you will see the blades swinging around all over the place. Watch them with an ATG, Multigov or CSM and they are much more stable. Yes they swing a bit but nowhere near a GV1.

Plus as stated, most new ones are faster, support digital servos, are lighter, take up less space and half the price.

And the 9251 and 56 ONLY work with short pulse devices like the 601/611 and CSM 720.

Where does this come from? Servo speed ratings commonly measure the time to swing a 60 degree arc - there is no arc on a GV-1. The only spec I could find is specific to control response which is 20ms.

search for it if you want more data.

the 20ms you found even if you use it as a base is a country mile nowadays.

I searched before posting, even read Futaba's specification trying to figure out the reference as it makes no sense to me.
