I haven't pre-ordered but I did email regarding the availability and the response was exactly the same, "in some weeks".

To every action there is always opposed an equal reaction

I'm curious as to the benifits of the Gyrobot over the Helicommand Rigid.

I have the Rigid on backorder but I'm considering cancelling the order and putting the money towards the Gyrobot. I like the idea of easy setup and the tail gyro seems to work a treat!

Does anyone know what the calibration procedure for stabilisation is?

Anyone who has a data sheet about the GyroBot? What are it's main features compared to the HC?
Cheers,
Joe

This is all I've been able to find.

Easy setup menu options:

Tail – id point, left and right endpoint, direction, servo type / frequency, and sensitivity

Swashplate – Swashplate type (mechanical, HR3, H4, etc.), servo direction, swashplate direction for aileron and elevator, endpoints, pitch middle/minimum and maximum and sensitivity.

With the "Advanced setup menu", you are able to adjust detailed parameters if you so desire. This way you are able to make a fine tuning to on you model and programm it exactly for your preferred flying charakteristics.

The menus are designed as "rotary select".

For each row, you will be directed through the menu options. When you have navigated through the list, you will receive a “System Running” message; this way it is unlikely to miss something.

There are two ways of programming the device:

1. With the Programming box (70x50x10mm)

The box can be used to program the device and then be removed (if you want to save weight and space) or can be left attached in your model.

2. Via PC

This is handled via a programming box simulator and is connected to the GyroBot via a USB interface cable. The PC only simulates the Programming Box and is only used as a display, there is NO programming software neccessary.

The programming (either box or PC) is done with only one button and the rudder control stick of the transmitter, it cannot be more simple!

You also have the option of switching between 3 flight settings (via a switch on the transmitter/channel to receiver) during flight.

It seems that the Gyrobot's begginer mode (maximum stabilisation) has been having a few issues.

I've been informed that a number of Gyrobots have now been sent out, without the beginner mode capability. LF-Technik are apparently "working on it every day" so it's anyone's guess as to when this will finally be available.

I think I'll hold off until they sort out beginner mode and have all the bugs sorted out.

Helicommand, here I come!

...but no stabilisation... "only" a flybarless-electronic.

Now maybe I am wrong...

...but not only does a flybar provide stability but also acts as a mechanical amplifier. Full scale heli's have the help of hydraulics. In the past you could buy a servo for either power or speed. Now digital servos allow us to have both. With the advent of these digital high speed monsters, we are able to command the swash plate with the force of a Mack truck and the speed of a rabbit.

I have been wrong before, but a mechanical engineer explained flybar dynamics with my eyes slightly glazed over.

Nothing better than the smell of Camper Fuel in the morning.

Your Flybar idea is correct James. I don't see its particular relevance to the Gyrobot though Have I missed something?

I was told by Lutz yesterday that the beginner/stabilizer mode is still in testing.
