| It's possible, on my Eco I have the deans strapped to the bottom of the rear LG bow facing aft. It is just above the skid so it is several inches below the boom. I get an occasion twitch but nothing severe. Seems to happen when the air is dry but I'm not sure it is that predictable, some flights nothing and some flights one or 2 little twitches.
I know how to fix it, just need to take it apart. I have all the aluminum parts which allow things to be grounded but the anodizing is an insulator. I need to take the boom out of the clamps and sand the annodizing off the inside then connect the outer race in the tail box to the boom with a grounding strap. That'll allow the aluminum pulleys to ground to the boom and the rest of the airframe.
On a mostly stock Eco you can fix the problem by getting the two aluminum pulleys then ground a tail gearbox bearing to the boom and also one of the bearing in the shaft mount at the front. Even so, I think 1" from the boom is too close. |
