Just heard that Spektrum equipped JR systems were used by the top three pilots at the F3C Worlds.

1. Itoh - JR 10X + Spektrum DM9 Module
2. Scott - X9303-2.4
3. Curtis - X9303-2.4

I guess that Module doesn't slow you down TOO much! (There's been a lot of talk about latency lately.)

Boy, I'd love to take the credit, but Horizon brought this technology to the Market.

Pretty much depends on if it was a eCCPM heli or not.
and we havent seen the numbers for 10X helis, maybe its perfect.

Could be the talent of the flier, too, but I don't think it would affect my flying one way or the other. I think the DX7 is terrific!

Is there any measurement out there about the latency between "direct JR/spektrum 2.4G" and "spektrum module on JR/Fut"? so curious...

Cheers, Happyfly

Since the 10X measures the same as the 9303 in PPM and eCCPM mode, you can safely conclude that the numbers I have listed for the 9303 with a Spektrum module also apply to the 10X with a Spektrum module.

Thus, it would mean very close numbers for 10X/PCM and 10X/Spektrum. And since the 10X updates all the channels each frame in PPM mode and the Spektrum system transfers data for every channel each frame, with the Spektrum module should feel better. (PCM only transfers half the channels each frame.)

But they wouldn't have had the technology without YOU! Thanks Paul!

I think we all agree that Paul was a key figure in 2.4, and he is a pretty nice guy which makes things event better.

Paul..
Congrats on the results in Poland and thank you for creating such an innovative system! Also thanks for the 'lecture' you gave at 3DM, it was very inspiring to hear the 'Spektrum father' describe the ideas behind the system.
Finally thanks for making the Rx accept >8.4V. I just built a TR600 nitro with no regulator. 2S LIPO, AR7000, KO Propo 2123, CSM 720 and CSM RL20.

Here in Europe we seem to have some confusion about the actual transmission power of the Spektrum based transmitters.
Could you please clarify if the power of the european versions are lower than the same Tx model in the US?
If there are any reduction in power in Europe, which effect would you estimate this has of range, robustness etc.?

I'm a model heli pilot, If you see me run please try to keep up!

European type approval restricts our 2.4GHz output power to +20dBm (100mW).

There's less than 3dB difference in the peak output power between EU and US DX systems. However there is only a very minor reduction in range and no impact on selectivity. And both versions are classified as full range systems capable of controlling any RC aircraft with plenty of margin.

The 3dB difference is very minor when you consider the total path budget of the systems:

Path = RX sensitivity + RX coding gain + TX power
98 + 18 + 22 = 138dB for the US
98 + 18 + 19 = 135dB for EU versions.

That was quick Paul, thanks!

Considering that response, and your 'lecture' at 3DM, I have 4 more short questions. I am a very happy user of DX7 and simply have a desire to understand this as correct as possible.
- The spektrum Tx sends with a duty cycle of approx 10%, meaning that even if 2 Tx should send on same frequency, odds are all will avoid lockouts, because they, most probably, do not send at same time. However, the 2 Tx are not synchronised and therefore success cannot be guarateed. Are there any dither in the transmitting timing, or similar, maximising the odds that when 1 transmitter transmit, others do not? As one extreme example the Tx could look for the 'vacant holes' on the frequency.
- are there any official rules which require that all 2.4GHz equipment does test if a freqency is vacant before transmitting, like the DX7?
- are there any official rules which require that all 2.4GHz equipment does not transmit with 100% duty cycle?
- is it technically possible to make modules which offer same latency as fully integrated spektrum systems?

Thanks again, Kim

I agree. But don't worry, Futaba must be working on that to get back into the game
Right now they look like a giant who took too many sleeping pills and therefore forgot to tell their customers the G3 system was too sensitive to be used in electric powered models
Kidding, actually they also make great transmitters, but right now I inspect them to work overtime.

Paul, what Bandwidth do you use for 100mW? 10MHz? Are the US receivers (afaik 1MHz wide channels) compatible to EU Transmitters?
The limit over here is 10mW/MHz for DSSS systems. 100mW is for 10MHz Spread systems only (and of course FHSS).

Andi - I think Paul Beard made a typo -

He meant 10mW (unless Spektrum is FHSS and DSSS).

Here's another one of Spektrum's typo:
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Article...?ArticleID=1716

Can't really blame them for those typos. Who would buy a 10mW system?

Hi Guys

Can you help i have just purchased 2 x AR9000 receivers & a module i am using a JR PCM 10 X.
The problem i noticed is a bit hard to explain so bear with me.

The first module was put into a Align nitro pro i set up all 3 servos JR 821, at 90 degrees at mid stick then went full pitch & full negative & adjusted the atv's slightly to get the swashplate level thru its full travel from top to bottom & i noticed the pitch & aileron servos dont travel the same path at the same time or the same speed it creates a sort of rocking motion from left to right. The faster you move the collective up & down the more apparent it gets, in flight this will induce unwanted aileron movement from using the collective only.???
I thought i was my set up being that the spektrum is brand new so change the servos for futaba 9252 & i still had the same problem, so this morning i unpluged the aileron servo, pitch & elevator servo & plugged them into a standard 40 mhz pcm receiver turned on the transmitter & the set up is perfect no rocking motion at all, cool i thought its not the servos at least i have 3 that are now matched so put the spektrum back on & the problem came back, i have the exact same problem with a vibe 90 aswell using spektrum but dont have it on the other vibe using a standerd receiver.

i SHOULD STATE THIS IS CCPM & YOU WONT NOTICE IT ON NON CCPM AS THERE IS NO INTERACTION WITH 3 SERVOS

This is my set up.
Nitro pro 50.
servos jr 821 x 3
tail 770 3d gyro with 8900 servo
throttle 8700 servo
7.4 volt lipo thru align 2 in 1 regulator
AR9000 receiver.

Vibe 90
futaba 9252 servo x 4
7703D gyro & 8900 servo
scott grey reactor regulator
7.4v lipo

If the speed thing is the same between a 10 x & a 9303 why has curtis & scott changed?????

thanks wayne
