Just wondering how many XL-Es made it to this side of the Atlantic, and how they are configured...

My XL-E setup:
Motor: Actro 32-4
ESC: currently a Phoenix 45HV until Kontronic PowerJazz comes in
Rx: XPS 2.4 (currently on a test mule heli)
Power: Duralite 7.4v 4000mah/5v MPI regulator
Cells: 14s A123
Blades: 710mm MAH
Gyro: CSM 560SL/9254
Servos: 3x HiTec HS-5955TG (titanium gears, 250 oz/in at 4.8V)
Data logger: Eagletree

Still waiting on some components, but pics up as soon as the wires are all nice and tidy.

Thuvanduc, get that Align POS out of there! :^O I wouldn't trust Align electronics in Trex, let alone a Henseleit. Get a duralite or fromeco regulator. I'm using an Mpi 5.4v regulator, but have a Duralite Gemini on order at the LHS.

Easy there chris24g, I can easily get a different brand regulator. But calling the Align one a POS may offend other readers. Walmart took over the world market for the same cause.

RCMan, I will put up some pictures Monday. Next time you come down to SLC I'll let you test it out. The XL-E is wicky fast at 2200 RPM.

Didn't mean to offend. I have personally had bad experiences with Align electronics and have heard too many horror stories to trust it on a $2k heli. I just didn't want to hear one more.

Back to the topic at hand...What's the kv on your Actro 32-3?

Nice paint scheme! I'm afraid mine will be pretty basic. My power jazz came in today, so I'll be soldering away when I get home.

Hello,

Thuvanduc, I plan to use FP evo25 3700 too, but I am still on building. What fligh time did you get with this Battery? Which HS?

chris24g, what fligh time did you expect with your 14s A123 2300 battery?

on 14s/a123, I have been getting about 7 minutes of basic forward flight and hovering, drawing only 15 amps. Now that is an efficient motor.

For hard 3d, expect half that.

My a123s are in bad shape because they were drained way past safe levels (another heli they were in got auto'ed into a tree and they drained for 3 days until I could get to them). They are going back to Tanic for repair.

update: My Duralite Gemini redundant regulator came in today. It's a nice piece. 2 packs power independent 5.9v outputs to Rx plus 5.3v to the gyro/servo. Solid state switch means no chance of accidental power on/off. Cheap insurance for a $3k heli if you ask me.

Chris24g,

You've got one of the world's most beautiful (and expensive) 90 sized E-heli's and yet you limit it's performance with A123 cells. Sorry, but this just does not make any sense to me.

Cheers,

Tom C

Perhaps he exhausted his funding building what he got and needs to wait for more cash. I too, like to get the new FP 30C 4500mah ($650), but have to wait $$$.

I don't think that you can fit new FP 30C 4500mah in the frameset. I think you are limited to the fp 25 3700's.

Cheers,

Tom C

Not true, I fitted the TP 5000mah in with extra room. The new 30C 4500mah is smaller than the TP 5000mah

That's great, but what are the max battery dimensions? Thanks

The baterry compactment of the XL-E is roughly 3"x3"x11", so it will house lots of battery. Anything above 12S 5000mah is an overkill, and too heavy. The new FP 30C 4500mah is a perfect setup for this chopper for power, flight duration and not too heavy.

LOL, thuvanduc, yes I am broke! I did manage to pick up a 2nd hand pair of flightpower 4900s for half price. I still have a hard time justifying the cost of lipos. I will use the a123s for sport flying and the evos for when i want to show the nitro guys what epower is all about.
