Yes , I was having the same problem so I changed out the wash out links to the stock Align Trex links , and it solved the problem, twice as much cyclic!! Here is a pic of the links!

Links

I just bought the HDX 450 kit. From what I've read, and in the magazine review (funny I bought the mag just 2 days after I bought the heli, and it had a good review), we should replace the links and balls with Trex Align parts.

Since there have been so many versions of the Trex, do I have to buy links for a particular version? I'm not a Rex expert, as my other heli is nitro.

Thanks!

Both the XL and the SE kit are fine.

I used the XL links and the XL plastic washout assembly for the review and it worked fine. Also I would recommend ordering the longer Align flybar while you are there along with the Align paddles. If you are learning get the heavy paddles. You should be good to go after that.

Feel free to PM if you have any questions about setup.

Thanks. Do I need to buy the washout assembly too? I haven't started the build yet and may not for a couple of weeks... Just too busy, but I wanted to gather up all the stuff I need.

Just get the plastic XL washout arms. You don't need the entire assembly.

You might even try to ask helidirect for those parts. They may even provide them for free.

I would get.
Long Flybar
Align XL washout arms.
Align links and pushrods.
Align paddles. Heavy if you are learning and want more stability.

Don't forget to loctight everything.

I hope that helps.

Art, did your HDX450 in the review have the heavy-duty washout arms (heavy duty CNC arm with a replaceable plastic ball socket)? If so, I don't understand your statement about flimsy washout arms!!

Washout arms.

In my review I started with the heavy duty washout arms and replaced them because they will bind against the ball supports on the washout assembly with extreme pitch and roll angles. The all plastic Align washout arms work just fine. The only advantage most metal vs plastic parts have is for crash survivability. Other than that the plastic parts work just fine. I have crashed my HDX several times and those Align plastic washout arms have never broken yet.

Ground on mine a bit. Took about 20% of the metal away. They are way to beefy and hit the swash plate. Also replaced the links with align links I just drilled a hole in the side. This helps with slop a bunch.

My stock arms came off in flight lol.
I replaced with the Trex SE V2 comlete arm set.
I tried the plastic lower arm pieces only..........errr the holes int he stock washout levers are twice the size, sloppy jalopy.
So I just replaced the entire arm.

If you bling it, they will come :D
