I'll have a sample or two with me at IRCHA. We're still looking 6 weeks out for the models themselves to be available. If you are there, stop in and speak with us and we'll show you what we're up to in person, i.e. up close and personal.

Looks nice, I like the metal look,
just one thought on the tail, from the pic it looked like the three rollers are just barely touching the belt, are they?

The belt is loose in my hand - this is not installed and hence, there's no tension on it and thus, no it doesn't touch there at all.

John is probably not back in Florida yet.

I'd say, give him another day to recoup.

We briefly flew both Wildcat prototypes (special thanks to Mike Hamilton and Michael Sutherlin, else this probably would not have happened) and the models performed beyond expectations. There were a few prototype bugs we'll iron out of the build process, which were not real surprises to me as I know to expect these kinds of things. They will be resiolved before the production models are released so it's a non-issue. Anyway, perhaps one, or the other, of these fellows will chime in and share their early flight impressions. Finally, bear in mind, we were pressed for time in receiving the models and getting to IRCHA. Frankly, try as we might (and we tried hard), we just couldn't get these models here, built, and flown in time for the event.

Update 2/20/2008 - lots of changes since then.

Yes we tried to get the Wildcat built and tested more in the air but just ran out of time.Mike Hamilton and I put the two together in one night at IRCHA, so the build was stright forword. They flew well from the start but all we had time for was some hovering and figure 8s.I look forword to putting together another and flying it hard then I can give a better overall opinion. So far It looks good.

I also thought it was a straight forward build and seemed to be solid in a hover, but lac of my battery charge and time restaints, thats all the further we could take it, I too, can't wait to give one a little more time in the air, before passing anymore judgement!
I also have the stylus step if anyone needs it in the future for this heli!
Thanks John, for letting us play with your little baby!

work hard, play even harder!!!!

I'm still building the Pantera so it will be a while before I need another heli. At leat another month !!!. Nice looking electric. We already have a Pantera, how bout a Panther? [english vs. espanol]. Better yet, a Florida Panther.

Glad to see you dropped the Cub. Skychicken would have been better.

John,

This project looks very appealing and high quality. I wondered if you have considered integrating "Chinese weights" on the tail grips to neutralize the flat-centering of the tail blades when at speed and lessening the work load of the tail servo?

These "weights" are used on many full scale helis, Revolution, Henseleit, the NIX Trex 450 tail upgrade among others.

Just thought I'd mention it since a lower work load on the tail servo means you can get by with a smaller servo and it'll last longer.

Depending on how this project goes to production I may move from my MicroHeli modded Trex to your product.

It was mentioned...

On page one of this thread I made mention of the tail grip balance weights. Look for the picture of my MX400 Pro tail showing weight dimensions.
