Flight control is not legal in F3C competition, so the model is for 3D only. The flight control system was designed by Curtis's dad. Just a little FYI guys. Oh and the radio is the JR spectrum 9303.

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.

Don't jump the gun here guys. Curtis has reasons why the flight control system might or might not make it to the open market. So we will see where it goes from here. It was largly developed to compete with at the Masters. Yes there have been some talks about a public product, but nothing concrete yet.

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.

Masters is over. He took second. And nope not on to the worlds for me. Curtis and his dad will handle that.

Buzzsaw,

We will see where it goes. It got a lot of buzz at the Masters, but safety is important to Curtis. So again we will see where it goes from here.

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.

Why would someone put the money, time and energy into such a project just to maybe have an edge at a competition?

Curtis does this type of thing to push his limits. It is not always about public products. He does it to see what can be done in the hobby. Not everything Curtis does is to make money. This hobby is TRUELY his life. And I for one respect that. I am proud to have been part of the process. The investment is worth the end result if the end result is 100% personal satisfaction. That end result does not always have to be monitary gain to still be 100% satisfying!

I could only imagine if CY (et al.) devoted his time and significant experience in designing and manufacturing his own flybarless helicopter from the ground up.

That would be pretty groundbreaking.

This is where you get the competitive advantage to win. Without it, your ability to complete (and win) stagnates. Why compete without trying to be better than your competition?

From what Curtis has told me you have to kind of unlearn a lot of things. For instance you can't hold left, right, back, or forward cyclic like you can with a non flight control model. If you do the model will simply keep feeding in input until the model flips over. Curtis said it is very stable, yet very aerobatic. He said it will simply do things a flybared model will not. But with that comes safety concerns. So it is all relative in the end. I know from what I have seen the thing is an animal.

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.
