I have a VE with a Himax HB 3615 3200 kvm brushless motor. It seems to work well.

Later I moved to a Feigao 540S 10T (5408410S) which brought up the head speed nicely. Using a 16t pinion the head speed is 1750 RPM and it averages 25A with a 3S LiPo. I used a 17t pinion at first but it was a bit much for this heli with wood blades and no thrust bearings. Vertical climbout was surprisingly strong.
