e-Walkera Helicopters > Exceed RC Raptor G2 Upgrade

I purchased a Raptor G2 about a month ago. I got brave and went from hopping to hovering. I did pretty good until my battery went low and lost control to the right. All I broke was a rotor control linkage.
So I decided to get the aluminum upgrade swash plate and rotor head frome Exheli.com. After $159.00 and no help from exheli, i can't figure out the control linkage setup on the new upgrade. It is totally different from the stock setup. Can anybody help me? All I need is a simple drawing of the setup. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, TrailerDoc

That isnt made by Thunder Tiger, you should post in the electric section or PM mark and ask him to move it, you probably wont get much help with that thing in here.

Is it for a Raptor 50 or 90?

I have never seen one of those – do you have a link?

The Raptor G2 is a Walkera #36 mini/micro electric.

Any information that you find for Walkera #36 will be relevant.

Go to xheli.com and click on 3D expert. You'll find the Raptor G2 there.

Hello TrailerDoc.
(Or anyone else)
I just got a G2 and I'd like to see what you got.
Here is a link to a G2 exploded parts view.

I see that XHeli is now selling it without any electronics for $99.00.

That would have been a better deal, as the radio in mine was faulty (it has had Spektrum in it for over a year now, which works great).

Be very careful when you purchase the CNC rotor head from Xheli. I upgraded my whole main and tail rotors to CNC and had a crash that bent the main shaft and the spindle. The main shaft has slot and Jesus hole in different positions from original shaft and completely different spindle. The spindle can be replaced with a T-Rex 450 spindle that works perfect. Xheli does not offer replacement of individual parts for ther CNC upgrades. You have to buy a whole unit. So I went back to my original setup with some CNC parts interchanged.

Head assembly

That's a great heads up Neutrocuted.

I would much rather replace the small plastic parts in the head assembly than the whole thing. These small parts also keep the shock and breakage from reaching to the servos and more expensive parts.

As long as we don't try to over power these helis with super high headspeeds and the like, they should be relatively cheap to maintain and keep flying. I'm thinking about getting a second one so I could keep flying while the other one cools down.

Cheers

Got mine monday, Hovered 1 flight and forward flight the next.
Noticed that in 3D mode it as about -5 to +9/10.
Seemed to bog down at full pitch. Gonna put it on my run up stand and try it there and maybe adjust the linkages so the full pitch does not bog down.

No one kept the stock radio?
I just wanted to see if I could get the stock radio to work in 3D mode or not before I give up and put a new Xtal in it and use my computer radio.

I used the stock radio for over a year with no troubles. I did upgrade the motor to brushless. Sold it and as far as I know it is still going.

Were you able to do loops, rolls , flips, inverted?

I could hover and do FFF but it got small really fast. I lost orientation after about 50 feet. It should be able to do all 3D that the bigger ones do if you can keep track of it. The pitch is easily adjusted by loosening the collar on the pitch wire that comes out of the bottom of the mainshaft and checking pitch while moving the throttle from min to max(with the motor unplugged). I used idle up everytime I flew.

Rate of roll is very slow for this machine.

It is pleasant and easy to fly but, at least mine, was not an agressive machine.

Hey Melnic,
I've torn mine apart quite a few times and I could never get different amounts of pitch on the +/-. The super useful "Pilot Handbook" even states that they will be equal. I'm new at this but when I set it up I made sure that the wash-out assy. was centered on the main shaft slot at 50% throttle then set my blade pitch to 0 degree. Then I set up my Tx for max pitch which went from +10 to -10 degrees when in idle up mode.

I've been using my original Tx without problems. I installed a CPD4 from FMA Direct and hooked it up to the gear channel with great success.

Are you talking about the knobs?
It is somewhat documented what they do but it is a bit confusing. I think I figured it out last night:
Normally Dip switch 10, 11 and 12 are off. You should usually keep them all off by default. Only turn one on at a time.

Dip switch 10 controls the left knob for MIDRANGE pitch adjustment.
If you flip it ON it will allow the left knob to vary the pitch like a trim knob. flip the switch, get the pitch trimmed the way you want it using the left knob, then flip the dip switch back OFF to lock it. I think this adjustment should be done NOT flying and just using a pitch gauge.

Dip switch 11 controls the mid range throttle trim. This adjusts the center area of the V curve for the 3D/Idle up. Flip 11 on. Adjust the right knob to vary the midrange throttle. Do this while hovering or on a test stand. When done flip Dip switch 11 back to off.

Dip Switch 12 controls gyro and tail mixing. With it turned on, left knob adjusts the collective to tail mixing. right knob adjusts gyro gain. Not sure whey you need tail mixing if you have a HH gyro though. Read Section C in the manual 7.4 will explain this.
