Align T-REX 600N 700N > 2 in 1 Regulator??

Just a heads up to all who are using a 2 in 1 regulator from Align. I can't pinpoint it on this being the component of failure, but yesterday I suffered a crash that has cost over $400 in repairs!! Simple backwards flight, slow and I crashed. It felt as if I didn't have any control, possibly a lock out on 2.4ghz?? Not sure, been looking at other posts and seeing people having thier 2 in 1 fail after serveral flights. I already ordered a AZ regulator and battery to replace my destroyed 2 in 1. I'm not knocking Align's product, just stating the possiblity.

That's a bummer? Sorry to here about your crash. I'm thinking of ordering the Fromco AZ regulator. Do they sell a whole package, or do you order the Reglator and a batt,. what size pack did you order. And does it come with a switch. Hope you get your Bird back in the air SOON !!!!!!!!!

I not sure what procedures you use to mount your RX and Reg, but I have been using this Pipe insulation foam for about two years now, and have never lost a heli, either 72 MHz or 2.4Ghz to a lockout nor have I had a regulator failure.

1. Make sure that your RX and Regulator and Battery are not contacting the airframe.

2. I don't mount Gyros,Reg or RX any were near digital servos. Some people will disagree with me, but the five years I spent with Predator(UAV), all avionics or "black Boxes" were shock mounted and Isolated from each other. Almost every Trex 600n I have seen, has the gyro mounted on top of the servos, I wont be doing this.

You can get the stuff at Home Depot. I do not use it to mount the gyro head, just the 601 amp. I just mounted the 2 in 1 regulator, cool little unit, however, I am concerned about the rather frail looking switch, and Small gauge wire. All the more reason to shock mount everything.

At least this way you know that when you crash, it was your thumbs!

Good luck, sorry to hear about the crash.

Sorry to hear about your crash Dave. You know it's always good to get the first one out of the way, lol. I learned my lessong a long time ago on the electric 600's. NO MORE Align electric components for me.

Thanks for all the sympathy replies. Man it sucks crashing, especially a bird with only 10 flights on it!! I ordered the Fromeco 2600 relion with an Arizona regulator to replace my Align 2 in 1. All will have the deans upgrade and the pin flag switch which I use on my 90SE. The one pic posted by Dave is almost a spitting image of how my set up was. I had the battery on the bottom with the regulator mounted on the bottom of the battery. Reciever is the same and is mounted the exact same way too. Maybe the 2 in 1 is good, maybe not. I know I have never had any issues with the Fromeco gear, so that's what going back in my poor 600N. By the way, $400 later and once the parts get here, she'll be back up....

I run the Fromeco and Arizona exactly as you are getting. They are a great combination, no issues in many flights here.

Haven't crashed, because It is not done yet! I have been very busy painting my butt off all week. I am about 80% complete. Waiting on a gov. sensor and MP5.

Note that the battery is on the bottom and the Reg is on the side. Don't strap the regulator to the battery, they both make heat.

Heat makes resistance, Resistance= BAD Things

I have to hand it to JK and AS, that forward mounting tray is very cool. You can mount all of the components on it without stacking.

I am drinking a glass of wine, listening to Jimmy Buffet, putting the finals on my 600N

Cheers Dave

fwiw...

Digital servos are very noisy...I had to make a shielding plate to run my 401 near the digitals, much less mounted to them....The connectors supplied with the 2 in 1 are suspect, I'm switching mine to micro deans before I even use it....

You Bet.

In my opinion, it is bad SOP to mount any fight critical electronic component to another.

So people say I am nuts, but that's just the way I roll.

Trust me, this next go around, everything is going to be separated if at all possible. I can't afford another crash, to blasted expensive!! AZ regulator is what I should have used from the get go. The remote starter on the 2 in 1 sure is cool though...Wish I was sipping some wine looking at my new 600N. Had to have a couple shots of whisky instead the day of the crash!!!
