Hey Randy that raptor 90 you have sure looks nice I am sure you felt a big differance from flying the 50.. looked good though didn't get to see you fly it ..

Oh thanks Gary for helping me on that setup saturday when I got there. went to the field sunday and ran about 6 tanks through it
it flew great ....

Curtis and his crew was awsome on helping me with my gyro. It was even better when Curtis came out to the flight line himself to give me some pointers to help me with the issue Thanks Curtis and Jarred......

The Flyinn was great in that I got a lot of input from various pilots on how to progress to the next level.

CY and crew were down to earth and have me pre-sold on a RAVE.

My wife queried,"Are you going to buy a new helicopter?" "No.", I said as I spent more than the price of a new copter with Scott and various individual vendors on necessary items. Oh well??? Sh-t hapens when you're having fun.

It was good to see the CCRCC representation there and made me feel at home.

NEXT YEAR!

NEXT YEAR!

Don't you mean November?! The Fallfest funfly is always the first weekend in November at LARKS. I go to Mayday and Fallfest every year. This Mayday was definitely one of the best since I started going in '05. Not only did we have perfect weather, but Curtis and his crew were awesome.

Who's going to the Vintage Field this Saturday? Fritz, Tom, Tony, Shawn Pierce, and myself plan on heading out there for around 1:00 pm'ish. Dave you can bring out the grill and the food and it will be just like a normal Sunday...LOL

Fly & Learn

The Raptor was finally doing what it was made to do - which is only because I am finally figuring out how to fly a little - stall turns & figure 8's that were a little shakey but I was doing it nontheless. I thought that I would try a few piroettes and back to some stall turns when all of a sudden the unit started doing slow piroettes to the left on its own - I tried the cyclic up, down, all round - nothing. Sh-t, I throttled down and nothing. Still piroetting slowly left and building up speed (this is in my neighbor hood of gutted houses and empty lots by the lakefront in New Orleans. Finally I saw the Oak trees and for the first time thought, "Great, it is going to hit something." - It did and fell with the motor screaming and looking dead - no broken-wing chicken dance. I ran over and pinched the fuel tube and the motor quit.

After an NTSB type investigation of putting everything back together in the hanger - I discovered that the wire from the battery to my voltage regulator (Align w/ a 7.4vdc lipo pack) had been barely soldered to the circuit board and the one or two wire strands that were attached had vibrated and broken - no electricity to the rcvr=no control. I think that I'll secure all that wiring a lot better next time.

That was a known issue with the early Align 6a regulators. After you solder the wire back on, coat the solder joint with some type of silicon glue (like Goop). This really helps to prevent the wire from receiving any vibration from the engine. Get her back together and keep flying. Unfortunately crashing is all part of this hobby. I usually come away from each crash with a new lesson learned, although I would rather learn the lesson a different way.

Learned something new today about trailing and leading edge. Thank goodness Tony pointed it out. Once I looked at your pics in the gallery, then I realized it was different from stock Trex grips.
