| Fly & LearnThe Raptor was finally doing what it was made to do - which is only because I am finally figuring out how to fly a little - stall turns & figure 8's that were a little shakey but I was doing it nontheless. I thought that I would try a few piroettes and back to some stall turns when all of a sudden the unit started doing slow piroettes to the left on its own - I tried the cyclic up, down, all round - nothing. Sh-t, I throttled down and nothing. Still piroetting slowly left and building up speed (this is in my neighbor hood of gutted houses and empty lots by the lakefront in New Orleans. Finally I saw the Oak trees and for the first time thought, "Great, it is going to hit something." - It did and fell with the motor screaming and looking dead - no broken-wing chicken dance. I ran over and pinched the fuel tube and the motor quit.
After an NTSB type investigation of putting everything back together in the hanger - I discovered that the wire from the battery to my voltage regulator (Align w/ a 7.4vdc lipo pack) had been barely soldered to the circuit board and the one or two wire strands that were attached had vibrated and broken - no electricity to the rcvr=no control. I think that I'll secure all that wiring a lot better next time.
