Blades, Night Flying and Painting > Stripped set screw on 80mm V-Paddles

I went to install a set of V-paddles and noticed the set screws were stripped. Are the inserts replaceable or so I just retap it? Any idea on what size I should retap the hole to?

I have a stripped set too. Can the inserts be purchased separately? I don't think retapping would go ver well becase there isn't much metal there to tap with a larger thread. I also was thinking about installing them sans set screws with red locktite, but I'm afraid it would be impossible to perform maintenance. I'll probably end up buying a new set, but I searched around RR and don't see that anyone has answered this question.

I sent Vic @V-Blades an email and they sent me a new pair of inserts for free. It's worth a try.

I emailed Campbell Mfg. (Vic) and they sent me a new set of inserts for free. I offered to pay for the parts and/or shipping, but they told me to keep my money. Thats what I call great customer service. From now on I'm flying nothing but V-Blades and V-Paddles.

I stripped one as well, used some CA (not very much help but...) they were fine until a horrific crash damaged both paddles. I think repair by an epoxy'd helicoil or similar insert. In fact they should do that from original manufacture, or use a different alloy.

Mine are retired and I went back to the stock Align paddles. Might try Stubz,

Great to hear about the service from Vic's.

Never, ever, ever, ever give up.

Good service for you guys but I havn't got an answer from them regarding where I could get the inserts. Its been almost 4 days now.

I guess my set is going into the trash can...
