Jason is correct. While the board is the same, the firmware was changed to provide the requisite function.

Yeah I know thats not the "official" name of it, but isn't that what it is? A modified Vision Lock Mark? Good grief, I got the thing from you and I can't even remember what its called. Anyway, hey, it works killer!

Camera shutter Cam?

I googled "servo exerciser" and found a web site
(http://www.rc-cam.com/servotst.htm) with a device that cycles a servo. If you cut a circular servo horn into a cam that depresses the shutter as it turns, the repeative cycle would depress the shutter. Any who - I ordered up the parts for five sets, (digikey has a minimum quantity on some parts) and have a Pic programmer on the way to give it a go. The finished device would probable weigh about half an ounce or so. It looks like the "Vision Lock" as mentioned in this forum wouldn't work as it does for Burntoffering.

Savage, If you want to do AP with this bird, I wouldn't trust a 35 dollar motor ESC comb. If you are going to do this right, then its going to cost some money. I realize money is always an issue, but I can tell you with the setup I have, I simply wouldn't try to save money on the two most important parts of your plane, and that being your motor and your ESC. Let me put it this way. I just landed a very large contract with an engineering firm in Anchorage. I won't get into any more detail than that. But this contract will pay for a new AP Slow Stick with the exact setup I have now, every time I go out and do a shoot for them. I'm just saying it will be well worth it to do it right he first time.

Dude, I don't know what to tell you. I think in terms of quality and reliability, and there is no way I would trust my ship with a 500 dollar camera onboard to a 35 dollar motor and ESC combo. There is simply no way you can replace a good E-Flite brushless motor or something equivalant, and a good quality ESC like a Castle Creations with a 31 dollar ebay blue light special. If you want to go down that road, knock yourself out. I just can't help you with any tech advice as I would never buy the stuff.

OK bro now you are talking. I think if you go to Horizon Hobbies and one by one copy and past the stuff on this list into their search bar, you can get almost everything you need in one fell swoopage. Here you go.

My Equipment is:

E-Flight Park 480 1020kv Brushless Motor
Castle Creations Phoenix 35 ESC
E-Flight 2100 mah 3s lipos
Futaba T6EXHP Transimitter
Futaba micro servos for all controls except Ailerons. For that I used a s3151

Well, I got the slow stick up in the air yesterday. I didn't like the way it flys at all. Mybe 4mph winds very hard to fly, don't think I be putting a camera on it any time soon. Kind of discouraged.

Something has to be wrong. The SS is such a floater/hands off flyer. Even in wind, it still flys nice.

What is it doing that you don't like?

It sounds like his CG is off because the SS is a very stable and easy plane to fly. "Floater" is the best way to describe it.

Tonic something is WAY wrong. I fly mine in 15-20 mph winds all the time. First, did you put ailerons on it? I know guys fly them without ailerons, But I can tell you, your life willl be a lot easier if you put them on. Wind what wind? Second, the added weight of the camera makes it WAY more stable. Build your camera mount and then put tape a "D" cell size battery to it to simulate your camera weight. Also, you will need to beef up your landing gear. Listen to all you guys that are taking up the cross and doing this project. Don't quit!! Guys, I just landed a HUGE contract taking aerials of a 30 acre construction sight for an enineering firm. The shoot requires me to move to four different locations on the proerty. With a heli it would be a nightmare! VERY HIGH risk with a heli. I am doing the entire shoot with my SS and I can't tell you how sweet this is going to be. It is sooooo worth it gang hang in there.
I am going to try to do a short video of a shoot with my SS and post it on my website so you guys can see how well it works. Stay tuned.

Burnt Offering, what do you think of THIS plane?

Well the wingspan is 3 inches shorter than the SS. What that means when you add the weight of the camera is that it won't fly as slow wich is everything. I was out flying mine last night. I can almost hover my bird in. Its so sweet. Suit yourself, I would stick with the SS.

I'm flying with a brushless RimFire R22 and a TP1300. CG is about 2 inches behind leading edge. This plane is light for sure and is set up this way just to get some stick time on it. I got a Park 480 that I plan to put in it as soon as I crack up the Yack that motor is in. I'll try lighter winds next time but they were under 10 for sure when I tested it. I had a heck of a time getting it down. I get back to you as what prop is on this set up.

Yup I know about the Askman mount. it is sweet to say the least. I am going to give one of those a try this winter. At $120.00 it will be worth the money. I have actually been in contact with them getting some basic info on the mount. Right now I'm using some 1/8 inch aluminum for my mount and it works ok. But I would like to improve this area of my SS.
