Yes Tonic, it would carry your camera no problem. The very first post in this thread list all my electronic components. This list of things should get you started or at least give you an idea of what you will need. Follow the thread through and I give detailed instructions on the ailerons mod.

Hey Burnt

Thanks for the lengthly reply. I have no doubt that I will be happy if the image results are acceptable. Its not that i want to abandon my heli but it is expensive, dangerous and stressful. My carbon rotors at 710mm blades plus the 95mm for blade grips and head give my tip speed at 1650RPM a wopping 500,7km/h with 10kg all up weight it just makes this scary for a lot of shoots, This is not new for me I have been looking for an alternative for a long time. I hav recently bought a mast and a blimp, they are safer but very impractical. I will use all of my equipment but when they are required. For a lot of the shoots I do I think the SS will be very useful and a lot less stressful. I have event thought of using a catapult system to get a camara with para shoot or wing in the air. This could really help me thanks again for all your help, I am busy seaching for a SS and equipment. What does the Brushless motor, ESC, prop, battery and any needed accessories cost?

Regards
Jason

Hey Torque, The batteries I use are $80.00 apiece and I have 2 right now and am going to pick up a couple more. The brusheless motor I use is $85.00 and so is the ESC. You can do an entire shoot with one battery. One thing to remember is, when you fly you can really extend your battery life if you just don't rally the heck out of the motor. Just float around and give only enough throttle to get the alltitude you need and then pull WAY back. You can stay up a long time this way. A breeze is even better. I have my camera mount setup so I can rotate it to shoot either side of my bird. That Way I can always fly into the wind to do my shoot. With this, you can shut the motor off and almost come to a complete "hover" over your target and just let the camera go, its amazing. If you go to my website gallery, you can see a shoot I did where I got an entire 60 acres in the shot. I just get up to altitude shut off the motor and start snapping pictures. There is NO WAY I would even think about doing a shoot like that with my heli. Anyway, keep us up to speed on your progress and let me know if you have any questions.

Hi guys

Thanks burnt... I thought all was sorted out and was ready to buy my equipment but the slow sticks that were showing on the web site here were not in stock. I have looked all over here in South Africa but cant seem to find any available. Will probably import the sticks and electics from the States then

Can someone please tell me how good GWS brushless motors and ESC's are. I was not that interested in their products before but it has been quite some time since I have looked at their products. They are a lot cheaper but does anyone use their products for E-flight and what do you think of them.

Thanks
Jason

Burnt Offering,

I have ordered a SS from my local HS, should be here on Monday. I see in your first post that you use a Sony DSC-T9, how again do you trigger that camera? And one per second? I have a Sony Cyber Shot that I have to use a servo taped to the trigger and then it's only one picture per trigger on the radio.

I sound like you don't need a servo to trigger.

Hey Tonic,
I got my camera trigger from this guy. His name is Mark Webber.

http://www.webberaerialimaging.com/

Just straight up a stand up guy. I am using a Vision Lock for my camera trigger. And yes it is connected to a micro servo. But I see now they have a different one so you might want to email him and ask him about it. He will be able to answer your questions about that new trigger better than me.

Hi Burnt Offering

I just like you am trying to make this Slow Stick as simple as possible and not looking to buy unnecessary equipment but please tell me if there is anything else I will need as I know very little about electrics, I mean like cell balancers, motor mount etc.
The only thing I have for electrics are 2 swallow charges

I have decided to go with the E-flite speed 480 1020kv outrunner can you please tell me what amp ESC I will need? (I see its not on your 1st post)
Do I need 1 or 2 batt packs & what rate do you charge at?

Was there a reason you went with the DSC-T9?

Thanks for ya help

Hey Torque, Man I can't believe I forgot to put what ESC I used in my first post. Duh!! OK here ya go I used the Castle Creations Phoenix 35 and I got it at Horizon, but your local HS should have it too.
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Product...ProdID=CSEPHX35

Here is the charger I use.

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bi...?&I=LXMAJ0&P=ML

It does not plug into AC but I still really like it. I have it set up in my vehicle so I can hook it up, take it with me and charge batteries on the run from location to location. When I want to bring it inside I simply hook it up to my auto battery charger in my garage, put it on low as not to overload my Triton, and this way I can charge batteries in my garage if I need to, like say overnight or something. I don't have a balancer yet but this is at the top of my list of priorities. Thunder power makes one that will plug right into my charger and its only 60 bucks. Get one right off if you can. o yeah, if you can affords it, get 3 batteries as once they go dead, they take a god 45 minutes to an hour to charge. I always leave one ready to go so I have it even if my others are dead. This way at least I have ONE that is ready to go at all times. I charge mine at 2100 milliamp.
My Sony DSC-T9. I love it. It is a stupendous little camera. Why did I get that one? Beside the fact that it takes killer pictures, the one deciding factor was its weight, or lack of. 5.5 ounces. Thats crazy light. I need to tell you about its biggest downfall, and its a doosey. If you plan on using a video downlink, do not get this camera. It has its own video out adaptor as in NOT THE TYPICAL 1/8 plug. it need a lot of modification to make it work. It sticks down out of the bottom of the camera a good two inches. The problem with this is on landings. I land in crazy stuff, and it almost always gets knocked out of the cmaera by rocks grass or weeds. Get a camera the is comparable to this one but with the video out that comes out the top or the side of the camera. Its not a biggie for me as I don't use a downlink anymore. But when I did, it sucked as this plug was always getting ripped out of the bottom of the camera.
Well that should keep you going for a little while. Let me know if you have any more questions.

My stuff is on the way except for the slow stick. I think your thread has started a world wide movement of slow sticks

No stock of them here and when a hobby shop phoned me to tell they found one I told them to oreder it.... by the time they phoned the dealer back it was already sold

Guess its time to import a few

Hey Torque,
I'm not suprised. I have five extras right now. The last time I went to order them I stocked up for the exact reason you are talking about. Even in the US sometimes its hard to get them. I ordered 4 of the park flyer version because really all you need is the wings and the plastic parts to mount everything with. You will be making your own landing gear and main boom. And they are half the price of the full kit. So if you can find one of those that would be cool to.

I will, when it is more refined. I just finished it this morning, and have only flown it without the camera.

As of now, it's a modified Askman 360 mount from my heli. It's 360, modular, and fits on my Trex front mount, and the fixed wing. I'm also using it on a cable cam set up.
