Burnt Offering Veteran Location: Winter Wonder Land, Wasilla Alaska
| OK, torque my brotha, you will not be sorry. I have several thousand dollars invested in my heli, and I have to tell you its a relief NOT to have to use it. I will still use it eventually but for snaps, I'm tellin you bro, this SS is a kick. OK for starters, Order the Glider version. Why? Because you will not be using the landing gear that comes with the full kit so save a few bucks and get the glider version. they are a collosal 18 bucks at Tower. And get several of them, for 2 reasons. They are almost never in stock, and then you will have extra parts. Oh by the way, the stupid specs say it comes with an aliminum boom and thats litterally a chinese joke, no matter what you order it will come with a fiberglass boom. Not to worry, we will make our own form some aliminum from Home depot. If you look at the very first post in this thread it lists every electrical component I use. I trigger my camera with a switch on my transmitter. When I get lined up with my target and am ready to shoot, I simply flip this switch and it goes through a programable device called a "Vision Lock" from Spartan. I can program the vision lock to adjust the throw on the servo, the speed of the servo, the epa of the servo, dude you name it it does it. I have mine programed to take a snap every second. I just did a shoot for a Realtor here this morning. I was in the air for maybe 20 minutes. I have a 2 gig memory stick capable of 800 snaps at full resolution. I was able in that time to take 118 pictures from EVERY concievable angle of the property. I just go in circles around and filp the camera swith when I get lined up. Now I HAVE TO SAY, THIS TAKES PRACTICE!! I do NOT USE A CAMERA MAN!! I went out and found a house that I could practice on and flew over that bad boy 50 different times. I would have my laptop handy and slam the memory card into it and view my progress right on location. This is how I learned to do this without having to have somone to run the camera. I am to the point now where I know EXACTLY where I need to be to get the shot. I can only say this about the electronics. Go brushless. The engine I use is simply amazing. I can take off out of a property that is surrounded by trees, and this baby will go almost vertical. Its airborne so quick its scary. I fly in LOW around a lot of trees, you need raw power to pull out of certain situations and brotha this engine does it. You CANNOT fly this bird full power for very long, it simply is not made for speed and the wings have so much surface area that they start to flutter. I use the power to take off and get out of tight situations but when I'm doing a shoot its about 1/4 to 1/2 throttle. Tires. I found these tires at my local yocal hobby shop in Anchorage. They are Dubros. BUT They say 'super light" on them. They aren't kidding. They are light as a feather. I run 2 1/2 inch all the way around. I take off ad land on some rough stuff. Gravel hayfields, lawns, you name it, and these tires ROCK! Enough for now I have to run a cd over to a Realtor. Let me know if you have any more questions and I will answer them if I can. Torque, all I can say is, you will wonder why you waited so long. |
