| On the Hirobo Vertol, the front rotor is driven by the engine via a pinion and main gear, standard stuff. At the bottom of the rotor shaft is a large toothed pulley for a belt that runs to the rear rotor. Like the front rotor, there's a pully at the bottom of the shaft to turn the rear rotor. A better way to describe it though, is, think of the rear rotor as a belt driven tail rotor that is mounted vertically instead of horizontally.
