| you dont have to swap anything. as long as the head is timed right then you dont have to do that. some people do that to cheat their way away from having to time the head. in some cases, the head can not be timed correctly and that is an easier alternative.
ideally, you want the controls to be input into the head 90 degrees ahead of where the actual control will be realized by the rotor disk. ie, aileron is input over the nose and elevator out 90 degrees to the side frames. that way, when the blade is at its maximum travel in its "cyclical" pattern, the blade will be right over where the control is supposed to be input.
