Its funny they will allow gyro stabalized heli but there is a stupid rule that says you cant touch the ground? Jason got robbed if this is the case, its the XFC let the guys get down and dirty. Only zero rounds if there is a crash...

Some of the rules may seem harsh at first glance but must be in place for the safety of the judges, pilots and spectators. If anything other than the skids touch the ground, there is no way to know if damage has been done and the pilot must land immediately.

Rules must always be crystal clear and not open for interpretations to be effective. The pilots all know this but push the limits to put on a good show and try to win. Jason had no problems with the ruling as he knows that a zero round is unfortunate but hurting someone would be far worse and must be prevented at all cost.

The electronic flybar rule was in place as an incentive for pilots to use electric helis in the event. Next year it will be open to all models as well.

Jason touch down

Also want to point out it was the tail blades that hit too, there are quite a few small parts that could get compromised, it's not like a main blade scrape.

I would like to thank Wendell, Bill, and Frank for a superb run event, it just doesn't get any better. And what better place to have it than the AMA field. The XFC with the noon time demo and full scale Air Show was GREAT to watch.

Also it looks like they are trying to make it a family event with the Summer Heat Air Festival. Looks like a fun fair with fireworks at night. So bring the wife and kids.

Thanks to all the pilots that came and competed in the XFC. It is always great to watch the best of the best. Congratulations goes to Alan Szabo Jr. for heli's and Jason Noll for the airplanes coming in first place this year.

Frank was already talking about changes and improvements for next year. The man never rest and is always on the move.

Thanks goes out to everyone who helped put this event on and to the AMA for the use of the field and their people that helped. The XFC is one thing everyone needs to see in person at least once(like the Kentucky Derby) in their lifetime.

Will see everyone next year,

Bill Donovan

Thanks to all I had a super time, and am looking forward to next year.

Daniel would have won the XFC if not for that musical selection - awesome flying, I think right up there - but that music is for a bad dance recital, not the XFC. Daniel, find a new DJ, you are too good a pilot.

I am just amazed at Daniel's flying. The only thing I can compare it to is a world class figure skater. The music gave it that vibe as well. He could fly to Yani and I'd vote for him!

Let your flying do the talking - don't talk about your flying

I think Yani would have been a bit better than what Daniel used. Music is a very particular point for the pilot since it will dictate the beat, rhythm and transitions thru the flight. I can se why he chose that song since it matched the routine and style. However, one judging criteria that is somewhat subjective is crowd reaction. I am not sure if is still in used, but in the past it played in the scores.

One thing for sure is that people will be talking about his great flying for a while.
Who knows, maybe Daniel will fly to Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra next.

Having an electric flybar is one thing but what type if heli its used on is another. If anything you should just toss the rule that mentions using only one gyro because that is no longer the case in allowing the electronic flybar systems to be used which is actually 3 gyros(yaw, roll, pitch). And also allow the electronic flybar system to be used on both nitro and electric...if not your potentially giving an advantage to electric flyers who already have more power avilable than a nitro.

Anyways. The XFC was awsome this year and I loved the vids. Keep up the good work and a huge pat on the back to all the pilots who laid it down at the XFC.

The V-Stabi by Mikado is (1) gyro so you know. I do not however feel it makes it easier in any way, its advantages are less drag creating abit more power and time. Yes the cyclic will be more agreesive due to less drag etc, I do not feel it is anything to be deemed "unfair" as it takes significant skill to master the abilities of a Vbar, let alone any heli of course. Daniels flying is and was just as good prior to his 6003D at the XFC and there are several vids to show that on the net. I myself will be looking at the Vstabi for my models in the future as well simply because I think it makes sense, cheers.

WHat was cool is that Bryan Regular walked in there and nabbed up the wild card and has been flying less than a year, I thought that was pretty cool, I'll be bugging that kid hard in less than 3 days time at our Ercha funfly. And Mr. Harmon I look forward to seeing you at next years XFC I think you are more than ready to enter the big picture imho,,, me,,, not yet, .

The point of my post was to allow all helis, not just electric, to use a flybarless stabalization systems...

And I 100% agree you must have a lot of skill to fly any heli at the level seen at the masters. But once at that level any little advantage is extreamly helpful(not saying a flybarless stabalization system is or isnt). Its the same reason NASCAR has such strict regulations...so they are sure its the driving skill thats being tested.

no flybar?

So are you guys saying that it is not legal to have a flybarless setup in a Nitro for 3D flight?

if you see the pilot running....try to keep up!

It's fun to see some people are starting to tell electric heli are unfair because they have more power... those same people never considered it unfair when electric heli were driven by Nicad

About other peoples comment on you music. I thought it was great and I had a great concern on the outcome of the event per your flying presentation. It was great.

Daniel and Alan.

As a judge, I had a real tough time on some rounds. Both Jr and Daniel had some individual maneuvers that had me giggling like a school girl. Bobby too. All of you had completely different styles, and any one of you could have won. Great flying job by all.
