| The big brown truck brought my new Benzin from East Coast Scale Helicopters about a week and a half ago, and It flew today.
I have built and flown many helis including an X-cell gasser which I still own. For those who have not flown the benzin it is a must fly heli. When I first got the kit I was a little concerned do to the fact that it did not look to be a great manual., however I can now say that it was the easiest kit that I have built . The few questions that I had where quickly answered by Joe at east coast with no problem, this was a big plus .
As far as tech support in the building process Joe is unmatched and a real pleasure to deal with. Everything I was told from the decision to purchase through the assembly was no bull!!!!. I have never dealt with a shop which was more pleasent and helpful. My hat is off to Joe Howard for his professionalism it is unmatched.
Now back to the heli. I expected it to fly and handle similar to my x_cell boy was I wrong There is no comparison the Vario is much easier to build and set up by far. When I went to set the pitch I found that my helimax gauge would not fit the massive Vario blades so I called Joe to get one. As I did not want to wait to fire this thing up I eyeballed the pitch in order to start the engine, so I fired it up and figured I would give it a little throttle, as I did ( about 3 clicks up from idle ) this ship was starting to come up! UNbeleivable power! When I received the gauge from Joe I wanted first to see where the pitch was as it was wanting to fly 2 degrees. I could not beleive that this ship was coming up at 2, after that I set up the pitch and took to the sky, I can now say that nothing I have flown to date will match this ting period, I can't wait till tomorow to fly it again. |
