Hi all, I am new to posting in the forum but have been reading alot of different opinions, when it comes to helis. I am looking at getting a second Heli and wanted to buy a .60 size, asI've only been flying .30 size helis. I wanted to know what everyone out there thought when it came to making a choice. I've heard that Raptor 60s are realtively inexpensive to fix; should I accidentally crash trying out new 3D manuvers. But I've also heard that there have been times when they've literally expolded, due to a blade failing or some other malfunction. Has anyone ever eperienced this?
Then, the other choice would be the x-cell Fury. Now I know price will be a consideration initially, but I've been told that some (not all) of the replacement parts for the Fury are actually a few bucks cheaper. And that the Fury is a all around better quality and flying machine.
Let me make sure that it's understood that I am not trying to take sides, I really don't know anything about either of these birds. That's why I'm asking.
Finally, price is a consideration, I just don't want to buy something that I will be upgrading in a couple of months OR over-buy something that I can't handle because it's too advanced for me. Your input would be appreciated even if it's not about either of these helis, but another one that you feel would be better in overall quality, value and performance.

P.S. I remember visiting a site that acutally compared all helis in their respective size catagory and ranked them by giving them 1 to 5 stars. Anybody know the site that I'm refering to. Thanks in advance!

I personally think the Fury is a better machine. There are more parts, however but performance may be better. Some guys at the field had the Raptor 60's. They will do it all as for 3D and are great. One thing that I did not like about them is all the plastic, the tail gears that strip out if you barely hit the tail blades on the ground, tail failure, and a few things about the head. The Fury on the other hand is made of mostly all metal G-10(I think) and Carbon. It does require a bit more work putting it together and fixing if you do happen to dumb thumb it. I have heard some past problems with the clutch on them but Min Air changed that and eliminated those. I own the Fury Expert 60 now and love it. I never had the Raptor 60 but had the 30. I loved the Raptor 30. It was great, but I wouldn't trade my Fury 60 for a Raptor 60 any day. As for the $, you pay for what you get. Replacement parts for the Fury are not near as much as for the Graphite 60 I owned. I think they are a little bit more than the Raptor 60 as for some of them but not much. Also want to consider the longetivity of parts. The plastic may wear faster than the Fury. CCPM on the Fury is great to, Response is crisp and set-up is so easy now. I think the Fury is a great choice especially if your going to do some 3D flying. MA will provide good support and a lot of people are flying them. That makes a difference as well when you go to a fun-fly and can get help or tips from others that are flying the same machine. It is definetly a bird that I will continue to grow into rather than wishing I had this or that and wanting to constantly upgrade.

Dont anyone get me wrong though, I think the Raptor 60 is a nice machine and flys great, I just prefer the Fury.

This is a repost from a previous post. You might find it useful for what you're asking.

Previously posted by ColeopTer

I have seen questions about price/features comparisons over and over so I decided I was going to do a comparison chart on the different most popular helicopter's real cost and features here in the US using US prices when they are all upgraded to the same set of features.
I would like to have your comments so we can have a fair comparison. The prices I used came from Heliproz, Rick's and the Manufacturer's websites.

I used the Vigor CS as the minimum upgrade level since you can't get it without any less features.
If you have a suggestion or correction please post it here. I want to have a real and fair comparison chart. This is a work in progress so please let me know about any discrepancies you find so I can correct them and post it again.

NOTE: I'M NOT IN ANY WAY SUGGESTING THAT THE UPGRADES ARE NECESARY. I"M ONLY POSTING THEM HERE SO WE CAN HAVE THEM IN THE COMPARISON CHART.

As it was discussed before, not every crash on a heli will break only those parts. I think the Fury is awesome. I just got mine flying this past Sunday at the LV fun fly and it is amazing. Smooth, stable and ready to flip on a dime. The build quality was very good and right off the bench for the first flight it was dialed in. Tracking was perfect and not one shake on the thing. Some guys got tired of hearing me tell them it was 'smooth as glass'. The Raptor 60 runs well and is definately a lot cheaper than the Fury. Its hard to tell which heli is the best. I know I just love my Fury to death and in my mind its just a cut above the rest.
