Reading about the new Robbe cuatro at robbe-online.net. It says it will have rotor diameter of 1765mm rotor diameter. That works out to be 882mm blades?? Do they even make blades that big?? I just might get one of these, strap myself between the landing gear and go for a flight around the neighborhood.

Don't forget about the head, blade grips, etc. However long that assembly is must be subtracted from the overall disc diameter.

Is this a new ship? Since they have apparently dumped the Futura SE for good, I was about to write them off...

Never mind; it's just a big Nova (probably with even more parts).

Pardon me while I yawn...

Steve, I was reading a revew some guy wrote on a Fury. He stated he flew a Millinium and could never bring himself to build an X-cell before because of all those parts. Some people never learn to count, do they. A Millinium has everybit as many parts as a Nova.

I found a 4 page pdf 'datasheet' on this new bird on the Robbe website.

800mm blades. Recommended engines: OS91 or Webra 75P5.

They say its optimized for: FAI, 3D, scale and oh, airborne photography
too.

Did they miss anything?

Many parts?

Many parts? Maybe, but they include tools, lock-tite and grease to massage all those parts.

Disappointing...

I was hoping that they would anounce a capable, light-weight, 2 pc sideframe model with a clean, simple layout that could compete with the likes of MA's Fury - aka. the now discontinued Futura SE.

Trainer / 3D / FAI / camera ship - huh? Don't get it...

Smooth?

Sounds to me like the're emphasizing the smoothness of this ship. True it's no lightweight, but with an OS91 who cares? With that much power and size of the ship combined with "designed in" smoothness should be a real "smooth" performer. Then again what do I know, I'm only a beginner.

In response to the SE being out of production; this is from Robbe in answer to my query! Dear Mr. Carlson,

The Futura S.E. is still available, but just the right one.

With best regards

Robbe on the wrong track...

Howdy!!!!
Don't get me wrong, I love their machines. I have an SE.. To answer Maxx, I have also read, somewhere, that they are, for now, going continue the Right Hand drive SE.. As far as being on the wrong track goes, what I am implying is that I think helicopters are going to become more specialized in the future.. The idea of having one chopper to do all this stuff is like trying to build a vehicle that can cross the desert and race at Indy.. We have already started to see this trend developing.. I have seen "good" pilots fly both the Vigor and the Fury and while any machine can be "optimized" for a particular style of flying, the Fury, at a pound lighter and more streamlined, seems to be, at least, a much more impressive 3D machine, given equitable pilot skill. Conversly, the Vigor, a little heavier and bigger, would be my choice if I were going to fly F3C.. There is a pole somewhere on this site about which heli has the most stable hover and of those listed, the Vigor is ahead.. With all of this in mind, Robbe is probably headed the wrong way.....

Argue for your limitations and sure enough, they're yours

It does look good, doesn't it. Not that the other Robbe canopies are dogs. The Mille canopy, like the X-cell SE and Pro, looks like it's going 90 sitting still.
