e-Ark X-400 - MX400 > MX400 Pro/Futaba 6EXH combination

guys, I've read till my vision is blurred, swore till I can swear no more. I've bought an MX400 and a Futaba 6EXH transmitter, everyone locally told me that they'd help me with the radio setup that i didn't understand. It came time to set up the radio and surprise, all these helpful people/hobby shops aren't willing to help now! I'm disgusted, I've got at least 40 hours into building this thing that was supposedly only going to take a few hours to build.

here's the deal, mechanically, everything is right on (I think)! the transmitter is my problem. I don't quite understand the pitch/throttle curves and can't figure out which setting to use on my swashplate. Someone here said use the 3-S mode with the E, P, A all set at 65%, when I do this, the swash plate makes some real funky moves that I don't think is right, and try to lift off and you need to give full back and right on the right stick, this can't be right. But, if I go to the 1-S setting, it won't come off the ground.

can someone that has this combination post their settings? I don't need the throttle up and stuff, just a basic get it off the ground and a few feet in the air settings... any help anyone can give me would be deeply appreciated.

if you can still exchange your radio do so and get a DX7 the programming is so simple and easy to use the screen is much bigger and it is a much better radio. I also hate the programming on the 6ex and do not understand it.

I'm currently setting up my X400 (ccpm) to use my Futaba T6EX. I used the 3-S and channels 1 - 2 & 6 and reversed channel 1. Channels 1 & 6/B should link to the 2 (two) front cyclic linkages (aileron, i think) and channel 2 should connect to the rear cyclic linkage (elevator). Channel 3 should be your throttle, and channel 4 should be your rudder/gyro. Channel 5 should be your gyro gain setting.

I'm using the +50 setting on the 3-S. I'll adjust this when everything is working as it is after test flight. i'll keep you updated as soon as i have the time to test fly it.

This is assuming you haven't messed with the default memory model of your t6ex, otherwise, reset the memory model (in your manual).

EDITED... exchange channels 2 & 6...

Well, if you're Pro looks anything like my Pro you don't use 3-S as your swash setting. You MUST use 1-S.

The transmitter settings should be like this:
RevR screen:
chan 1 nor
chan 2 nor
chan 3 nor
chan 4 rev
chan 5 nor
chan 6 nor

D/R
chan 1 100%
chan 2 100%
chan 3 100%
chan 4 100%

EXPO
chan 1 0%
chan 2 0%
chan 4 0%

EPA
chan 1 70%
chan 2 40%
chan 3 100%
chan 4 60%
chan 5 100%
chan 6 35%

TRIM
all chan at 0% to start out (will change when you fly and trim)

N-TH
1 - 0%
2 - 50%
3 - 70%
4 - 85%
5 - 90%

N-PI
1 - 10%
2 - 30%
3 - 50%
4 - 50%
5 - 68%

I-TH (idle up throttle)
INH (inhibit this while learning or face disaster)trust me on that.

I-PI
Blank

HOLD
0% (set a zero so that if you bump the THHOLD switch by accident you don't go to a high throttle setting. With this switch in the forward position (towards you), your throttle stick will not work).

REVO
INH (don't use with a heading hold gyro)

GYRO
INH (if you have an inflight adjustable gyro then you use this to switch between Heading Hold and Rate gyro.

SWSH
1-S You MUST use this setting if yours is mCCPM like mine. Check the photo and see servo positions. If they are same as mine use 1-S only.

NOTE: These are all settings that will get you up and hovering when your throttle hits about the 50% position. Later, when your hovering well you may want to experiment with these settings. Be SURE to write all these down BEFORE you go changing anything.

Good Luck, Bob

If you REALLY do need to use the 3 servo setting try this: The servos need to work together to do the work, that's how ccpm does it's thing.

1. The only time the servos all work at the SAME time is when you're giving collective inputs. So move the throttle stick toward the top of the radio. All the servos should move up. If they don't, reverse that servo in the servo reverse menu screen.

2. Now that they are all moving in the same direction when you give a collective (left stick) input, you move on to cyclic.

3. If you give a right aileron command and the swash tilts right, perfect. If it tilts left, then reverse the setting in the Swash menu screen (or equivalent). (if it reads +65, change it to -65, for example).

4. Do the same for the elevator command.

5. If you need more throw on the cyclic and pitch, you can increase the starting point (65 to 75, for example), in the Swash menu.

I think the mx400 is one servo for each of the 4 functions. I had a Shogun 400 and it was set up the same way.

Hmmm, my MX400 Pro uses CCPM, unless I changed it way back when and don't remember...I bet I did.

the mx400 pro uses MCCPM, the mx450 use ECCPM, unless you installed the eccpm update kit on your 400 pro it has 4 rods that hook to your swash instead of 3 like on the 450 [not counting guide bar]

what positive collective pitch are you running, if you are only getting +6 or +7 that might be why its not lifting off the ground good. also check your battery
