Hi,

Simple question. I'm looking to buy a TZ50 from LHC (UK) as my next cost effective thrash about.

Do they have any problems I should know about?

Thanks

That was a silly place to put the ground !

The word is that it is not the same quality as the Gohbee. Same heli, lower quality. I'm not too sure that's a good idea. I don't have any first hand knowledge of this, but that's what I've heard

Of the parts that are the same as on a Gohbee they are identical parts.
It is that the Gohbee has several upgraded parts that are not available from TZ.
Like you I have not seen a TZ in person but my understanding is that most of the parts are the same.

I had a TZ50 bought in the UK from a company which is no longer trading. Although kits on sale here are similar to the Gohbee I believe that the US dealers have a version made to their own spec so not necessarily the same. I can’t comment on the version LHC sell & it might have improvements over the one I had.

Basically it is a copy of the Raptor below the swashplate & a copy of the Hirobo Sceadu above with a different flybar setup, swashplate & above. Mine came preassembled & was made actually using thread lock which was nice. I would check the head spindle bolts though as your life depends on these.

I had a few issues with mine which ended up with me buying some raptor parts which reduced what I saved over a TT to not much difference. The main problems were to do with the moulded parts, firstly the mainframes. These are a bit chunkier than TT ones but mine had two faults, the faces to which the engine mount bolts to were neither flat nor tru (parallel) in order to get correct clutch alignment I had to file down the frames. Once I had that sorted I had trouble with the collective cradle which is a nice metal construction, but no matter how many time I adjusted it I couldn’t get smooth movement of the elevator levers/ aligning to the swashplate. Turned out the bolt holes aligning the cradle to the frame were out LH to RH. I got it to the stage it was flyable, but I wasted time & eventually got rappy frames. The next problem was the tail blade grip mouldings, the two halves didn’t match. I replaced these with rappy ones. I had a small issue with the engine fan being too tall but this I fixed by turning it down slightly on a lathe. Also the swash had a fair bit of slop in it, but was usable. Finally I put a rappy canopy on but that’s just down to personal preference.

If you are an experienced modeller the problems are solvable though. If you are still crashing a lot then you can replace with the rappy parts as you go. I guess the decision to buy depends on the price.

Hope this helps,
There are a few pics in my Gallery.

I got a stinger50 from gohbee thinking that it was upgraded somehow, honestly I can not se where, the alu-pitch arm is still the "not-CNC" type that goes boing and turns in to an bananaform when unscrewed. The tailrotor does not have thrustbearings (when I first bought it, comes standard now). Now afterwords I regret not getting the TZ50 deluxe, its the same as the stinger50 only with almost full metal head upgrade, for less money here in sweden.

One thing I DO like is that gohbee is coming out with really nice upgrades. Unfortunatelly I can only find the upgrades at gohbee.com (will look around more) so I am kind of stuck with the ordinary spare parts.
