How hard can it be to remote control the folowing heli for the price of just 30.000 dolars;strap a camera on and do what ever then to pay the same emount of money on a NRI copter.

Maybe after this material the prices will go down for NRI products.
Pls write me you'r opinions.

It's more complicated than you think. It takes years of development to produce a one-off autonomous helicopter, let alone a production unit. And if you think NRI has high prices, you should shop their competition.

UAV and remote control is different

You can put the camera on cheaper vehicles and command them remotely, if your aim is just following by camera. However, UAV is more than that. Developement of simple machine needs tremendous amounth of efford and technical information.. That's why they have right to be expensive..

Stur

Looking at the links you provided in your first post refer to "manned aerial vehicles" and not "Unmanned Aerial Vehicles" so I dont understand what you are trying to prove here. Lets see some of your UAV's that you build.

I think, the range is more concern than the interferance if the TV tower is the subject to be photographed.

STUR, Trust me, there is alot more cost involved than just the parts when building a UAV. Man hours spent in the assembly, modification, and testing to name a few, not to mention the time it takes to diagnose problems, which trust me will come up. But hey, if you think you can build, test, and sell a quality product cheaper than anyone else, jump on it, I'll look for your product in fortune magazine in the future. But I won't hold my breath waiting.

Ignorance is curable, stupidity is for life.

Developing and refining custom autonomous software is undoubtedly the most expensive part of the process.

Airtractor - If you can't scan for interference, take your rig to the intended flying site and range check it in as many configurations as possible (ie: rc electronics on, motor off, motor on, camera radio on, etc... without flying it) to test for possible interference. Also, make sure your insurance is current.

Anyone heard from STUR lately?

STUR,

You mention that you are able to develop UAVs for $1,000 there in Romania. I would be interested in seeing your specifications--payload, endurance, what platform/flight control systems you are using. What avionics are you employing? Do you write your own software? Do you have pictures? This is exciting! I would love to start developing UAVs but I had no idea it could be done so cheaply!

As for the $30,000 GENH-4, that is a beautiful little machine--I've been following its development for several years but have never actually seen one fly. I understand they demo'd the prototype at Sun n Fun (Lakeland Florida, USA) in '01 and '02, but I haven't seen any news on it recently. Have you been in touch with ACE Craft to find out about kit deliveries? Have any kits been purchased/built there in Romania? When will you buy yours to begin development? Please keep us posted on your progress.
