A couple of nights ago we were at the field with the Radar Gun.

Clocked my T-Rex at 80 MPH!!

This might be the new machine to reclaim the Electric World Speed Record!

World Record Data

Here are a couple of links to the current FAI World Records

The current glow record (10cc engine limitation) is 145 km/hr = 90.1 mph

http://records.fai.org/models/current.asp?id=195

The current Electric Record is 125.6 which is = 78 mph

http://records.fai.org/models/current.asp?id=284

I hope to break both of those this year????????

Hey Ken,

If I remember correctly, don't you already hold a speed
record for electric? I don't see you listed there.
Did someone take it away or are we talking a different class.
All the sub-classes are a bit confusing.

TZ & Divot

This is on a Stock T-Rex 600, L motor, 10 / 170 gearing, with Curtis RAdix 600mm blades in a shallow dive. I have to say I was pretty impressed that it goes that fast.

True, I did set a World Speed Record back in 2005 for electric helis, but a Russian Pilot has broken my record by about 2 mph.

I plan on reclaiming it this year, probably after IRCHA.

The only way to find my name at the FAI site is to go into the history for FAIF5C, but I am hoping to change all that.

The new equipment we all have nowadays works so much better, it should be easy to keep increasing the record performances.

They (the FAI) does got rulz, and that is a large part of record breaking, making sure you follow all of them.

Heck, I think it was Steve Velario that was over 100 mph back in 2000?

It'l get better!!!

Yea, I bet it is not as easy as most of us might think.
I hope you fair well and get back on the charts.
Also would be nice to see a home grown American boy
back on top.

Please let us know your outcome, good or bad.
Good Luck.

what goes into increasing speed? New bodywork, thin blades and higher headspeeds?

(sorry for asking such a noob question, i just jumped into this section of the forums for the first time and I am kind of out of my element)
