On the tests it pulls out 2000 mah but when I charge it back up im putting back in around 2200 mah but I think that is the balancer burning some mah. If you look at one of my previose pics you can see a comparison of the 10th cycle and the 50th its identical.

I just ordered one of these batteries to try on my new SEv2! Seems like it might "fit the bill" nicely!

55 cycle report

Well it took a little while but I got the cycles up there. This is one of the better batteries that I have used. Yes it is a little bigger and a little heavier but the performance more than makes up for its size. I have abused this battery pretty much every way possible. Discharged to O volts more than once, its drained to below 2 volts per cell on every cycle, it was even in a pretty bad crash and got dinged up a little, and it is still going strong. The capacity has not changed and there is 55 cycles on the battery, I am still putting in over 2100 mah on every charge. The battery has not puffed nor has it ever overheated. I have to admit that I was just as skeptical as everyone else, How can a little shop in Iowa have the latest and greatest in battery technology to date and at a reasonable price? but they do! So far I am a believer. Its nice being able to fly and concentrate on your heli and not worrying about how the battery is doing. I am still going to continue my abusive testing on this pack until it gives up the ghost. So stay tuned...

that sounds great. just currious what is the normal tempeture that you fly in. here now it is 80 degrees F plus and it dosent seem like the battery and motor can cool enough

Latley it has been in the 80s here but 75% of the cycles were flown in upper 70s and some cycles were flown indoors 70s. I have never had a problem with over heating...

these batteries look promising, only thing i'm wondering about, would the stock balancer plug fit the flightpower balancer leads..?

You need an adapter to go from airthunder balance lead to flightpower-thunder power lead. AirThunder uses the same balance lead as Align,Electrifly, ETC.

hm, ok, doesn't Thunder Power use the same connector as flightpower? (they only sell AT -> TP leads..)

Yes Thunder power and flight power use the same leads...

I have just aquired a single 2200 mah cell from AirThunder. With this single cell I can use my CBA II to draw out up to 30 amps discharge. I will post some results soon...

Here is CBA + 10X high load test I did on a 2s pack.
Cutoff was set to 2.3v

Test was made with it as a pack, in other words, with original cables that came with the pack.

I will definitely get the 5000 packs for my Ion and E-Stratus when they arrive!

looks to me like they are only discharging at or slightly less than 2.1 amp-hours?

arent these 2.2 amp-hour packs?

If you avoid failure, you also avoid success.

Yeah, I asked AirThunder about it,

I got the answer: "According to our engineers, the 2200 mAh rating is the nominal capacity; it is extrapolated to 0 volt discharge so it's hard to actually get the full 2200 mAh capacity under normal usage. In addition, our specification is 2200±100 mAh."

But, also, note that I dont have a 1C discharge in that graph, it starts at 5C, I get around 2145 at 1C.

I just got my Air Thunder 3s2200 pack. I gotta say great service so far, it shipped quick!

I'll be interested to see how my new SEv2 performs w/ this battery. I maidened the heli today w/ a stock Align battery and a Maxamps battery. I set my timer to six minutes. I was surprised that when I charged the batteries at home they were only at ~10% capacity! I guess I'll be shortening my flights to 5 minutes... Performance wise, these two batteries seem the same to me, though the Align was "warmer" at the end of the flight...

I'm not a 3D'r so it's obvious I'm using poor collective management in my loops & rolls, but even considering that, I figured the batteries wouldn't drain so low! Stock XL motor, stock ESC, +-10 degrees and 12 tooth pinion.

Oh well, perhaps the dreaded five minute flight times of the T-Rex600 aren't so bad now! though the 600N is looking very attractive to me.

I'll post my impressions once I try this pack...

LoveSpicyfood,
I have been flying both a Trex XL & and SE now for about 15 months, I fly what I would describe as "Sport", thats hard climbs, loops, rolls etc. I run a Align 430L on 13 tooth, 325 Pro woodies, Quark 33A ESC and have used a wide range of 2100 through 2200mAH batteries and have always got 12 minutes plus flight times and when I land the motor is cool and the batteries are around 65-70 degs C.

Weather has been very bad so I haven't had much flight time on my 2 new Air Thunder batteries yet but what I have seen was enough to order another 3 to make a total of 5. Time will tell but so far they look good and if I can keep flying until the Quark 33A hits the low voltage "misfire" without risk of damaging the batteries then I'm going to be a very happy camper!

Flying, crashing & having a ball.

But that's no fair. You guys are flying down under where you have to use power to make it land and not stay up so ................

Can you let us know how your times are with the new Air thunder batteries in comparison to the standard one that you were using?

MrMel,

Would you have any graphs of a ThunderPower Extreme or FlightPower Evo25 battery under the same loads for comparison ?

Thanks,

KevinB

Another Delay

I just got off the phone with Air Thunder was told the 6s packs will be here in two weeks. They told me that two weeks ago and two weeks before that. I am tired of being lied to about delivery dates. I find it disrespectful. I have been holding back on my battery purchase based on the lies I have been repeatedly told by Air Thunder. Reminds me of XPS.
