The motor does run kinda hot. I dont know how hot is to hot. The head speed does decrease when I give more pitch Im also using flat bottom trainers Blades. Ill try the smaller pinion. I think the the next upgrade will be a spectrum radio any suggestions.

Ok I changed the pinion from a 12t to a 10t. keeping good headspeed, no bogging, Still bobbing. Servos arent twitching. Wow that bell-heller head is SUPER fast way faster than stock. May take a little getting used to. Thinking about new LIPOS. Any suggestions for my set-up.

i loved my axe i would try to get anothre one if it isnt to expensive i still miss it i moved on caused of the parts prices carbon boom 30 dollars thats expensive how about the 4 in 1 80 bucks whooo thats alot if parts if only where cheaper.?now i have a trex 450 se v1. here is a video of mine

ok i have the nimh version... is it worth it to get some servos and a gyro on there or do they drain the battery 2 much without upgrading 2 a lipo?

Is the mainshaft running true?
Check the feathering-shaft also.
If those check out OK then since you are using the stock TX try
to dial out some of the pitch by adjusting the links to the blade grips for (less positive pitch) one full turn on each should be
enough to see if it helps.
Hope you get it sorted out, I really like flying my Axe Cp once I
went brushless, A Futaba 7C TX also helped me dial it in

If the servos are sloppy then HS-55 servos would definitely help.
I am using the rate gyro built into the 4in1 and I like it.
(I havent had the Axe inverted yet nor backward flight) so the
stock gyro on this works better than most.

In my opinion the Lipo upgrade will give you the most benefit for the buck.

I have heard that Spectrum DX7 users are overall happy with thier systems and the newest receivers are supposed to have faster reboot
times,
I prefer the new DX6I for appearance however if you end up going nitro I believe you will need that extra channel on the DX7
Futaba Fast systems were having an issue I think it has been resolved on latest firmware.

Thanks AllanB for the info Ill try the linkage solution. I thought it was the main shaft and feather bar also both new. When i got my axe it flew so much better than blade cp but since Ive had to rebuild it a couple times and also put alot of upgrades on it I think it got out of tune. Im not gonna give up on it though. It WILL fly again better than before.

I'm really not THAT weak, but...

Ok, I have a really cheesy question. I'm trying to assemble a belt drive tail mod for my Axe CP, and I have to take the boom off. I, for the life of me, cannot get the stinking boom seperated from the frame. After I removed the four screws around the boom, I can't find anything else to loosen. The boom WILL NOT BUDGE. What is the trick to getting it out??? Steroids??? Thanks!

yea when i removed mine it wouldn't move either... they glue the frames together from the factory with something so i just put my ball link pliers in the top and split it apart... make sure you have all 4 screws out so you don't strip the plastic threads

If you loosened the four screws and see the frame is slightly seperated at the seam than that boom should slide right out unless it was glued some how. mine never held that well when it was stock. Once you get passed this issue be careful reading the instructions making sure you grind out the frame as shown and make sure you assemble the drivebelt gear to the main gear properly that the recess holes on the mounting plate faces down for the screws to set in so they don't hit the gear.

Awesome tips, guys. Thanks. I'm stuck in Iraq for a few more months, so I'm apprehensive about manhandling it since parts are hard to come by here. That glue is no joke!

and i dont know about everybody else but the wire for the tail servo was a pain to get out... i had to take a blade and trim off the corners on the connector for it to fit through the boom

Just found this thread and wanted to comment on some of the things I read.

First a word of warning, on the stock motor the heat sink covers the very important cooling ports. I had my main motor fry and it took out all the electronics and a servo. Also I've read it's recommended to put a 15 amp fuse at the motor.

I have successfully put a cheap esky HH gyro (EK2-0704A) and ESC ($55usd) on my AXE, the tail drifts a little but if I break the gyro, I'm only out $35.

It was cheaper to go brushless on the main instead of buying another 3 in 1 board and main OEM motor. Of course I bumped up the head speed a little while I was at it, 2437 instead of stock 2000(?). Using an esky BL 3800KV motor with a 13T pinion. There is a little filing to make it fit. I haven't test flown it yet because I'm still waiting on the servo.

To balance the CG I bent a coat hanger to grab the fly bar as close as possible to the center and hang that from a string.

I'm using 1500 15C Li-po's.

To remove the tail motor, I unsolder the motor leads. I had my tail motor fail only after 3 hours of run time, anyone else?

No, I can't see shelling out the $200 for it. I'm actually still running a brushed OEM tail motor on a ESC.

so if and when both motors burn out what would you say to buy for new ones... cause 30 bucks is 2 much for a tail motor
