definitely let me know when it comes out. I just started it for the first time a few minutes ago. There is no flight time or big power in the stock battery. I read in the review that it needed to be cycled a few times before you get its best performance on the stock battery, but it doesn't compare to what a lip will do for the thing. I don't think I even got 3 minutes on this first flight and yes it gets a little loose when the battery starts to die. I touched the grass a few times with the blades, but didn't do any damage at all. Just some grass stains. It needs a lipo stat!

Man, I miss the eighties.

Hi guys,

I just got my first heli, a used axe cp, and I have a small problem with it that i thought you might be able to help me with.

First when I apply any movement on swashplate, being from the cyclic or the throttle, The whole helicopter starts to shake and becomes uncontrollable. I first thought it was the blade balance that was off. So I check the balance and it was dead on. I then checked the tracking and made the necessary adjustments as explained in the Manual.

What else could causing the vibrations and how can i correct it.

Thanks.

Seb

Did you check the stock servos for slop? Also check the swash. Is it a tight fit or does the bearing move around on the shaft? If it does move around perhaps getting a new swash would be helpful. Also make sure that the flybar moves easy from right to left.

I would check the main shaft.it might not look like its bent but it might be.also make sure the flybar isnt bent.that could be causing the problem.

Can you explain exactly whats going on when you start increasing the throttle?

Thanks for the input. Yesterday I rechecked the linkages length, blade tracking and blade pitch at zero throttle. Once I put the blade pitch to zero pitch at zero throttle a litlle bit of the vibration went away.

What I observe now is when I throttle up, at about 50% throttle it vibrates a little but stabilises at higher throttle. My main conserne is when I throttle down, the whole shaft shakes close to 1/4 of an ich side to side. With that much vibration going on I'm afarid to even lift it off the ground.

next step tonight, check the flybar distance to center and try to find wheel collars to add to fly bar. Hope it helps.

Make sure that the blade are not too tight. Also, I took the head off mine and balanced the whole thing. Suspect the rotor head by the fly bar and balance the whole thing together. I had some vibs too, but after balancing the whole thing, it was fine.

Thanks for the idea. Being kinda new and dumb about things. COuld you explain to me exactely how to suspend by the flybar, what to look for, how to balance it.

I'd be interested also. My approach would be to find a steel/alum shaft the same size as the main shaft (or use the main shaft) and slide the rotor head assy on. Then suspend between to ice cubes and give a spin -- or use a Hobart balancer if you're fortunately enough to have one.

Great works are performed not by strength, but perseverance.

Para,

I took the head off the heli, then I put two tall soup cans on the kitchen counter. I put the flybar rod on the soup can edge and balanced the whole assembly. I used scotch tape on the lighter blade to make it balance level. Now don't try to balance the blades parallel to the kitchen counter. Most counters are sloped to have the water run towards the sink. Just visually make sure that the blades are level. Or you can place the soup cans on some other confirmed level position.

Let me know if this helps.

I don't suppose you have a picture of the 'soup can' method, can't visualize it. Sounds good if it works.

thanks all for the inputs,

the vibrations seem gone, but now I can't get it off the ground. Even at full throttle the heli won't take off. Also at full throttle the tail motor can't seem to keep up with the torque and the heli starts to spin.

I would like to know what would be the stock blade pitch at different throttle inputs. Can it be anything other that the blade pitch being off???

I don't have a picture. But heck, you ask...I'll throw one up tonight. I'm stuck at work right now. If I don't put the pic up tonight.... I'll do it tomorrow.

I just bought this mod- haven't put it on yet. Got a brushless motor, Telebee HH and a 25 A ESC. All aluminum head on the way, too. Kicking myself for not just investing in a Trex 450 as long as I'm spending this much.

This mod is worth every penny and is quality material. I just put mine together and I'm very pleased with the results ,yes it is alittle high in cost ,but what isn't in this hobby. Having a excellent flying Axe CP in winter is a plus ,also owning a TrexSE is a double plus.

Finally, a belt tail option. I wish this had been out when I had money. LOL!!

Freesyle belt mod

Seems like when the tail rotor changes pitch it bogs down the main, losing head speed and bobbing up and down. I switched to a park 370 BL and 850 LIPO any ideas?

It seemed to me that the stock Axe CP bobbed up and down ,on my belt drive mod I have the Helimax 6pole BL motor and esc ,it pops up but can hold a rock solid hover. I see they have a bell-hiller head option out and it might help that bobbing.

I just put a Bell-Heller upgrade on this weekend. Ill give it a try. I also noticed before that my main gear had a small flat spot were some teeth got buzzed off. That also has been fixed get back to you.

bobbing Up&Down

Bobbing Up&Down
Too much blade pitch, not enough head speed.
Is motor is running too hot then try different pinion,
Using a computer TX (Futaba) really makes setting up/flying this heli a breeze
